Linara scowled at the firelizard as it swooped away. It was a silly little thing, but smart enough she guessed to have not been frightened off because Linara had tried to get away from him. Idara and Lithe didn't seem at all intimidated either, but both of them apologized to the great black dragon. Say sorry? For what? It was Renth that should be apoligizing to them because having Maylina run over here like this and having her set her firelizards on all of them could have made each of the Candidates end up with a bunch of scratches!
They were doing anything wrong...not really at least. THey hadn't sneaked down here to Touch any of the Eggs! All they were doing was looking and there was no crime in looking! Linara set her jaw and winced as Renth spoke so angerily, but they really couldn't have hurt the precious Eggs. It would have been impossible unless there were really trying to, but still, she should try to reassure the ebony Renth instead of saying something rude that she wanted to. If those two weren't going to say anything but sorry, then it was up to Linara to say something to help them hopefully.
Turning and looking straight at Renth, Linara ducked over in a low bow, trying to send out feelings of respect to the black dragon like she had heard a dragonrider talking about. Dragons could sense feelings and stuff from humans if they so choose, or something like that. Maybe Renth would be able to hear her.
"Renth, mother of this great Clutch, please know that none of us here came trying to hurt the Eggs. As Candidates we wanted to look at what might be in our future. I haven't ever seen a dragon Egg before in my life before coming here and I wanted to see what I was, well, you know, going to be seeing when they Hatched," She said, not coming up from her bow, but staying hunched over to show the queen even more respect. If Renth was as angry and tempermental as Lithe, Marakar, and others had said about her, then she needed to be the opposite to deal with her. She had to be calm and confident.
"We just wanted to see for ourselves what the dragonriders already have, ma'am. They have already proven themselves by Impressing and we have not. I came down here because I wanted to see what was in my future first hand. I...don't know if you can remember because Maylina remembers, but it is hard for Candidates when there is a Clutch on the Sands. We worry and worry and worry that we will not be good enough. Seeing the Eggs for myself and knowing that one of them could be for me has made me want to be the first one here when the time comes for them to Hatch."
"I am really sorry if we scared you, but none of us would have ever wanted to harm the Eggs or scare you because we want to try to Impress your children."
