Blood Ultima
Overview
Nestled far in the chilly depths of the North lays a new Weyr with a Weyrwoman bent on domination of Pern. So corrupt and dedicated is she that she has discovered a way to mutate genes of any species within one generation. Her own dragon, a Cyan Queen, is a testiment to her project's sucess. Her Weyr is Ultima Weyr.
the south lies famous Benden Weyr, the only buffer between newly established Ultima and the rest of Pern. While Benden stays loyal to its traditional roots, rejecting Ultima's mutated dragons, can it survive the political and literal war that is about to erupt between the two?
History
Life for Pern was fairly smooth for Pern after Aivas shut down. There was all this information on its computers to make life simpler for the Pernese. Simple electronics such as cameras were being remade. People began to not look as deeply into Aivas anymore, thinking there was no new information.
A young apprentice healer was looking through the records within Aivas one day. After hours of looking at already know, tedious information, she ran across a folder than she didn't know existed. She accessed the folder, and soon discovered that it allowed her to access a video, called Operation Ultima.
The people on the video from Operation Ultima were rogue Eridani, explaining that they could change the world for the better. However, doing so went against the procedures of true Eridani. These methods they used weren't gradual and delicate—they were immediate and rough. The healer learned that this was not for the bettering of the world; it was for domination of the world.
The healer, Ordica, became obsessed with Operation Ultima. She accessed the secret files of the Eridani, learning how to manipulate DNA. With her knowledge grew her ego. After saving her money to afford a fire lizard ego, she changed it to become an odd new color—cyan. It also had horns that spiraled out of her head. This fire lizard was also stronger than any other she had seen before, and much larger. Awed, Ordica decided to take it to the next level: Do the same thing to a dragon egg.
Insisting she come to the Weyr, Ordica wasted no time in getting down to business. Whenever the queen went to sleep, Ordica would always creep up on the queen egg, and inject it with odd mixtures that she learned from the old Eridani files.
When the Hatching came round, everyone watched with amazement and fear as their precious golden egg hatched something large and cyan-colored. Ordica had no doubts that it would Impress to her, which it did. The cyan dragon declared herself Eliath, and also that she was the true queen of Pern.
Though Ordica quietly went through her weyrling lessons, she began to develop a group of followers, the ones she called the Blood Ultima. She preached that Pern was corrupt, and that she could make a Weyr without corruption. The minute that Ordica's lessons were over, she and her banned of followers left to make a Weyr for themselves.
They settled in the large peninsula to the far east of Benden, settling in a cold valley. The valley became the Weyr Bowl, and the active hot springs were utilized to make comfortable weyrs and, more importantly, hatching sands. The group that was once Blood Ultima became Ultima Weyr, a weyr devoted to the domination of Pern.
The other weyrs worried about what would happen. Ordica was a very strong woman, and if her mutant dragon hatched out many eggs, that could spell doom for the other weyrs.
Oddly, neither Eliath nor the strange fire lizard had laid eggs. For five turns, Ordica fretted. Where was her empire if her dragon did not rise?
Then, the same day that the queen of Benden Weyr rose in Flight, the cyan fire lizard also rose. Both creatures laid healthy eggs. Does this mean the cyan dragon of Ultima Weyr will lay eggs and that the Blood Ultima will get their wish? Will this cause war on Pern?
