For over 900 Turns, the people of Pern have paid the price for their ancestors' doings. The act of a foolish and young Weyrwoman who tried to change the tide of her present by bringing the past forward. Only to fail, killing herself and her Queen. The death of four Weyrs out of the five that followed her. Leaving Pern with one fully functioning Weyr and one who would never had stood a chance alone. The act of desperate Riders who would do anything to assure Thread would no longer fall, finding a machine they put too much faith in. Instead of moving the Redstar as planned away from Pern it only caused the stray planet to drop Thread for fifty turns longer.
Such actions could have killed those who have called Pern home for many many generations. But the Weyrs and Holds have shown they will not go down easily. As time passed with the two Weyrs growing, they were finally able to settle in a third. That of the once called “Igen” now “Anu” Weyr. Slowly they were taking back their home, avoiding the South for all the trouble it had caused by finding the machine. As the Turns moved on, the people of Pern adjusted to their new future and coming to the end of the 11th Interval the decision of sending a young Jr. Weyrwoman and a handful of Riders with her to a fourth Weyr, once known as “Fort” now named “Sebeka”. Leaving the way open for any to transfer with her. Will the Weyrs finally be able to fulfill their oaths of protecting Pern from Thread?
