I got to thinking about when I created Allride today, and I felt like this is something I could post in History. I debated calling it OOC History, or connection to real life, but it wasn't. This is my explanation to creating Allride, and why I love Allride. This is me being nostalgic... If other members want, they can post their own nostalgia on here as well.
When I was eleven and I just finished reading Anne McCaffrey, my sister told me about a weyr she was a member of. She was estatic about impressing a green. The weyr she was a member of died, and was forgotten by her as she became more serious on her own stories. I, on the other hand, did not forget. When I was thirteen I decided I wanted to join a weyr. I believed my wriiting had matured (though in truth it went from being so bad you had to try not to die laughing to being scant on details and only slightly bad with a myrriad of mistakes littering its contents, though the typos still like to play with me.
So, back on track to why Allride. I bugged my sister about how I could find a weyr (at this point, my sister is in college and really just wants to forget her annoying younger sister). She tells me to google it just to get me to leave her alone. I do. I find Arolos, I find Dawnsisters, and a whole bunch of dead weyrs. I join Arolos. I was too young for Dawnsisters and really disapointed.
I was happy with Arolos for a time, but I hated the way I was emailed everything. At Arolos I learned a whole lot about role playing. At this point something really important happened(and the reason I was remembering the chaos of when I created Allride). I flipped my wrist backwards on a tree, wrinkled a bone in my wrist, and basically messed up my wrist. Stupid idiot younger me (not to say I still do not do idiotic things), jumped on my just turned 5 thoroughbred with a halter and lead rope out in the field. I stayed on for a long while, but eventually the insane horse bucked me off and due to the fact that my wrist was put in a cast five days ago, I was off balance and injurred my hip. The important part out of all that junk, I had trouble walking, and so I sat at my computer desk and typed, and at this point Arolos wasn't enough, I was borred. I went searching for other places. Some, I joined, and others had age limits that barred me. One place allowed 13 year olds, but then they changed their agae limit, and deleted my account. When they deleted my account, the idea for my own weyr was already forming.
Allride first showed up on free webs. The problem with free webs was that I couldn't create boards on the forums page for days at a time. At this point, Bookworm joined if I remember correctly, and I asked her to be a moderator.
I can not remember if I had already asked Shadowreine to be an admin or not. I knew I was young and inexperienced, but I wanted to create a weyr where anyone and everyone could play no matter what their skill level. At my weyr, dragons would impress because they matched a character, not because someone wrote better than someone else.
At this time I was enamored with the last book, and this is why Allride's Pern is 1000 years after AIVAS. I chaanged Pern as i felt it would have changed in 1000 years. I researched and I advertised, and people came to the Pern where all could ride, and anything could happen due to mutation codes.
Feel free to write your own history behind joing Allride (and/or something about your time here). This thread is simply for nostalgic purposes.
