Name: Jerria (Jeri)
Age: 23
Gender: female
Sexual Orientation: bisexual
Rank: beastcraft master
Physical Appearance: whipcord muscle and tanned skin, no doubt attained in a lifetime of working outdoors, cover a tall, boyishly slim frame. Red brown hair is cut close to her skull in an eminently practical style that, along with her tanned, triangular face and golden brown eyes gives her an oddly feline look.
Jeri has a bright cheerful smile that flashes impossibly white against her bronzed skin and a tendency to make hand gestures whenever she starts talking.
Personality: Jerria has the calm, steady personality you need to get along in beastcraft, along with a stolid tendency not to panic or show fear.
She really can’t be bothered with arguing or getting angry, Jeri will listen patiently to everything a person has to tell her on any subject, nod in all the right places, then go off and do whatever she thinks is right in a pigheaded and stubborn manner.
With other people Jeri is a long way from a social butterfly, she has few close friends but she lacks the drive or temper to make any enemies.
History: Jerria was the third child of the bluerider J’ra and the second of his lady love, the Holder’s daughter Merri. Although her parents lived in separate places and were not handfasted they both contributed to her upbringing. Most prominently in her young life both her parents told the old stories of dragons fighting the deadly threads and sang her songs of dragons and riders, painting a beautiful, terrible past with nothing more than words. Thus was Jerria almost conditioned to believe in the return of thread, particularly since her father and her oldest brother did, from childhood.
However Jerria never got an opportunity to stand at one of the now infrequent hatchings. She followed her mother into beastcraft, first as an apprentice to her mother, then at the beastcraft hall, then under a string of craft masters. She learned every nuance of animal behaviour and body language, had the anatomies of beasts all but carved on her brain.
Within the last turn word of dragonriders actually forming a Weyr in the West has been circulating, and with discreet confirmation of this, obtained by annoying K’ion until he told Jeri everything he knew, Jeri began with plans to start holding out in the Western continent. She pulled all the strings she could to get hold of a small herd of cattle together and a few runnerbeasts bred for their intelligence and stamina, just the beasts for breaking ground in a new continent. With Jeri comes her younger sister, the gold wherhandler Jahzara.
Family:
Father: J’ra (bluerider/ cotholder)
Mother: Merri (holder/beastcrafter)
½ Brother: K’ion (greenrider/cotholder), 32
Sister: Mirria (weaver), 26
Sister: Jahzara (wherhandler), 18
Pets:
Firelizard:
Name: Zephyr
Colour: blue
Appearance: built like a racer this blue is long and lean with lengthily legs and disproportionately large wings. His hide is a silvery blue broken in places by patches of dull grey and blue.
Personality: Zephyr lives to please others, he’ll run messages all over Pern, for anyone not just his minething, in fact if he sees someone writing a letter he’ll often stop and wait to see if they want him to carry it somewhere. He’ll let children pick him up and play with him like a doll, thankfully if hurt he’ll just try to escape rather than biting, Zephyr is a bit of a coward. Jerria has to watch him eat, as Zephyr will share his food with any other flitter who looks slightly hungry.
Canine:
Name: Ink
Gender: female
Appearance: an ugly dog it has to be said, a chisel shaped head with pointed ears sits atop a thick neck attached to broad shoulders, a barrel chest and powerful legs. Her tail appears to have been broken at some point and has healed crooked. Ink was named for her coat, which looks like somebody dropped ink on her back.
Personality: Mostly a good working dog but Ink has a streak of devilment in her, just mind she gets lots of bones.
also as newly instated master of beastcraft Jerria has invested her money in the following beasts.
Runnerbeasts:
These are all a versatile light draft horse type quite similar in appearance to the Friesian horse of Earth, save for Talin and Yenna. Since this is a breeding herd there are no geldings yet.
Stallions:
Lance: Light bay, age 5
Talin: Piebald, age 12
Mares:
Yenna: Grey, age 7
Noon: Red bay, age 4
Sella: Blue roan, age 10
Kell: Bay with white face, 8
Safira: Chestnut skewbald, 15
Iesha: Dark brown, 6
Foals still with dams:
Larn (m): Bay roan, Iesha and Lance
Megwyn (f): Grey skewbald, Yenna and Talin
Dancer (m): Light bay, Kell and Lance
Herdbeasts:
Even Jeri wouldn’t name herdbeasts so suffice it to say there are two bulls and 10 cows in this small herd.
