Allride was turning into a very egalitarian Weyr. It could not afford not to be. Everyone had to work, and the drudgework...well, just the other day, somebody had sighted the weyrleader mending fences in the feeding grounds.
Now, early in the morning, he had settled down with klah and breakfast at one of the communal tables in the dining hall. Only his knot would have distinguished him in appearance or manners from, say, a stablehand.
At least they were getting more riders. They would, he hoped, soon need more candidates. He would have to speak to the blues and greens.

Here she was again, back in the dining hall for an early breakfast. Keila rubbed at her right eye with the heel of her hand and stifled a yawn. She had stayed up late the last night, or rather this morning judging on moon height, because Moddy would not let her sleep. The little flit had been in a fussy mood, and she had not gone to sleep until Keila had oiled her hide (twice) and allowed her to sleep curled up next to her head. Now the little green was asleep in the pocket of Keila’s tunic.
As usual, Dirrith was still asleep as well, but Sniff had decided to tag along with Keila this morning. Perhaps it was the presence of Moddy, but he did seem to be in a better mood lately. Instead of being melancholy in their weyr, he was melancholy in other places. It was a welcome change.
Keila was not in the mood for a heavy breakfast, so she just grabbed her traditional cup of klah. She glanced around the dining hall, wondering where to sit down. She had not made many acquaintances yet besides a couple weyrlings. One was a very talkative, rather well-dressed green rider named R’yan who had insisted on calling her ‘sweet’ and ‘hun.’ He had been a riot, and he had told her about all the ‘cute,’ handsome,’ and ‘adorable’ riders and weyr folk. Of course, she did not think she would recognize any of them, but maybe she would.
She finally decided on one of the tables and slid onto a bench across from a male rider with dark brown, curly hair. Her eyes rested briefly on his weyrleader knot before moving to his face. So, this fellow was the weyrleader, C’lyn? He looked hardier than she had expected…She gave him that same tired smile most people sport in the morning. “Klah’s rather good this morning,” she said, hoping he was not the kind of man who refused to eat with a ‘lowly greenrider.’

Bamre came in to the dining hall with Purth following him and as usal he was covered in flits. The only reason he even allowed them to even come in here with him was the fact that he had trained all of them form birth so they would listin to him and if that did not work then Bamre would have Diamond stop them becuase he could always count on her. He got some food and then looked around for somewhere to eat. He then saw that green rider Keila. Purth moved and took a seat as near as possiable to were his rider would be sitting and then he curled up and settled down. He sat down beside them and when he did Iron moved to C'lyn's shoulders and Emerald moved to Keila's shoulders. He then looked over at the other two and siad " Hello C'lyn. Hello Keila. How are you two doing." Then all of his firelizards chriped there greetings.

C'lyn smiled at the greenrider. "It is. Please, join me." As Bamre approached. "You too, weyrling."
C'lyn's blue chirped back to the white weyrling's fair. "I was actually hoping to talk to some of the blue and greenriders. Keila, do you know if your Dirrith has the knack for Search?"
He smiled again, trying to take the edge off of the business talk. One eye was on Bamre. "I'm also wondering that about Purth, although he's obviously too young right now..."

“Goodmorning, Bamre,” Keila said as he sat down. She had met him a few days ago, and it had certainly proved to be an interesting day. Sniff looked over at Emerald as she landed on Keila’s free shoulder and gave an exaggerated huff. Keila petted Emerald and ignored the moody blue.
Keila leaned forward, resting her elbows on the table. “I’m not sure if she does or not. The clutches were so rare and few between back home that we were never needed.” There had only been a few clutches after she had Impressed, and those had been on the dwindling small side. Then they had just stopped clutching altogether…
“I’m willing to give it a try, but where exactly would we Search?”

D’tini wandered into the dining hall, wondering when such early hours had become part of his life, Fortuth and Kismet were still asleep, sensible blues. Yawning the bluerider grabbed some klah and leaned against the wall watching the room. He knew he shouldn’t try and join anyone before he was properly awake as ’mmm’ had never been the best conversational gambit.

Bamre looked at C'lyn and siad " Yes I have been wondering the same thing myself. The way he is so willing to talk to people and notice them. I would have to wait till he is old egough though to see." Bamre then reached up and began to scracth Diamonds head. Sapphire was on the floor and he was beggen for food and Bamre smiled down at the little blue and he then took some of the food off of his food and feed him. He then aslo feed Topaz and Ruby becuase they were the three youngest and were still growing and need more food. Plus the older three had a knack for getting there own food and Diamond would just ask for it when she wanted it.

The Weyrleader nodded. "Personality is key. And wanting to do it. Malaracyth should rise again soon." He paused, thoughtful for a moment.
"If the Council finds out we're riding formal Search, they'll use that against us. However, we can be looking for..." He flickered a grin. "Suitable workers for the Hold."

Keila smirked, realizing where C’lyn was heading. “Hmm, you know, they do need quite a few people for that Hold. And young people would be the best.” She drummed her fingers along the table, thinking of the possibilities. It would be easy to smuggle people in under the guise that they were going to work at the Hold. Shards, if they needed to, the candidates could even do their chores at the Hold or something, to keep the Council confused. “This could work…”

Bamre sat there thoughfully and shurgged his shoulders lisitining. It sounded like it could work. The concil would probley fall for such a thing anyway. He then siad thoughfully " Yes I guess the sneaky way would be the best way. You would just have to be careful becuase if you screw up then you can't use the same trick a second time."

Kelyna walked in holding her quiet child Karlyn in one side and food on the other. She smiled as she saw the little group gathering around her weyrmate, C'lyn and she smiled at the others and then said, "Plotting without me, how unfair." She slid her way in and started eating before adding, "I like those cooking candidates, like Messa, not even a candidate and yet she impressed. Quite a quiet little weyrling I hear."

Keila winked conspiratorially at Bamre, “That’s why you have to be very, very careful about your sneakiness. Would not want to waste a good trick.” As she talked to him, she continually slipped Sniff and Bamre's flits pieces food. Sniff devoured his pieces and whined for more until Keila fed him again.
She looked up as the Weyrwoman joined their small group; she recognized her from when she had transferred to Allride. She smiled at the notion of a cooking candidate. “I wouldn’t mind a couple harper ones myself. Music is always a nice addition to any new home.”

C'lyn grinned a bit. "How is Malaracyth? And our lovely daughter?"
C'lyn knew by now that his daughter was mute...the healers said her vocal chords had not developed fully. But that would not stop her from leading a full life. He wasn't sure she should be allowed to Stand, but that was many years in the future.

Bamre siad to her and siad " Yes very very sneaky." Bamre got the feeling about that somthing will happen. Bad things always seemed to. He decided he would have to make sure that he did his best to help in anyway he could. He then sighed as Sapphire climbed up on the table. Bamre looked at the blue flit and he reached over and picked him up. He then held him on his arm which the blue was now using as a purch with his tail wrapped around it. He then put some food in his hand and the blue began to eat out of his hand.
