It had been what Uu’ian would class as a normal day so far, or at least a day that seemed more and more like normal life after every one like it. Two or three months ago however he wouldn’t have believed that days consisting mostly of the care of a dragon would ever be normal, or boring, or tedious. Mostly they were all three.
As normal now his day had started cutting meat for his dragon, a messy chore and one made harder by a hungry bronze dragon complaining at him the whole time, in fact Tombath had been so pushy this morning that Uu’ian had stopped cutting meat and refused to do so until he got an apology and some patience from his beast, Uu’ian would be very glad indeed when Tombath was old enough to fly and catch his own meals. Then there had been a very rushed bath and oiling for Tombath, and an even more rushed wash for Uu’ian before a morning’s worth of lessons and chores. Uu’ian had rushed through everything, and would probably be called back later to redo some of it, to have nearly a whole afternoon to spend with Tombath.
However at the moment Uu’ian was sat by the wall eating some bread and Tombath was, very irritatingly, rolling in some grit.

Life for a Candidate was never easy, but their hard life seemed to be even harder to a particular girl who hadn't know a single day of work in her entire life even though her life wasn't as long as many other peoples lives were. Linara was starting to really really not like living in the Weyr as a Candidate. She had only been to any type of lessons when she was a kid and expected to learn from the Harpers because tradition said it was so. If it hadn't been, then Linara might have been left uneducated, but probably not because her parents saw it as a lack of class and marks not to have their kids know how to do things like read, write, and do some math work.
Because it had been so long since she had to do those things, Linara got a real wake up call when she was ordered by the Candidate Master that she had to wake up really early just to learn about things she thought she already knew about. The only things she was happy to learn about, though, was dragons and what would happen when she would Impress and all that sort of thing, but those types of 'fun' lessons didn't last very long at all and then gave away to those really boring and hard classes that no one except for the nerdy brainy kids who sit in the front ever like
And then! To top it all off, there were horrible, horrible chores. That morning she had been assigned to, oh she didn't even want to think about it and remember it! She had to clean out latrines! They were so disgusting and she almost even threw up while she was working, but held it in because then she would make even more mess for her to clean up. As soon as she was done, she took two long, hot baths in the common bathing areas and changed clothes twice, making sure that each of those "stinky" items of clothes were sent to wash. She couldn't believe that the Weyr made the people who were some day going to ride their dragons do drudge work like cleaning bathrooms.
Not wanting to stay inside and because her stomach was hurting from all the gross work, Linara had wandered out into the Weyr Bowl, hoping to find someone, or something to distract her from the horrible work she had done earlier in the day. She wandered and wandered, her stomach feeling a little bit better with more clean, fresh air she breathed and the farther she got away from the Weyr. There were not too many people outside the Weyr right now, she saw feeling very disapointed because she really wanted to talk to someone. Just when she was about to give up, she spotted a big bronze...something.
When she focused her gaze on it she realized, feeling very much better, that she was looking at a bronze dragon rolling around on the ground. There was a guy next to her, a guy she thought to be the bronze's rider and decided to get closer. Linara approached and realized that it wasn't just a bronze and his rider, but a bronze and his Weyrling. How fun, she hadn't talked to many Weyrlings aside from Bamre and Purth.
"Hello, bronze Weyrling. Isn't it a nice afternoon to be out and not doing chores?" She asked, greeting him.

K'vet's day had progressed similarly to Uu'ian's. In some ways, caring for Grabth could be an easy job because she was so laid back. She was never impatient about being fed, and she was so lazy that she rarely made a mess of herself running around and playing. On the other hand, it was also difficult to convince the green to attend weyrling lessons, and it was a constant struggle to get Grabth to do her exercises.
The green weyrling had just finished oiling Grabth, who had sat still and patient as usual, making it an easy job. Then, he went to grab something to eat for lunch. It was a nice day, so he decided to eat outside. Grabth was waiting in the weyrbowl. The pair looked for a place to sit together. Look, mine. Tombath and his are sitting there, Grabth pointed out.
Yes, let's go join them K'vet said. As the pair approached, another girl joined the bronze weyrling. K'vet didn't recognize her. "Hi, Uu'ian. Mind if I join you?" He asked his fellow weyrling. To the girl, he added, "Hi, I'm K'vet. I don't think I know you."
Grabth curled up in the sun and yawned. It was always time for a nap in her world.

And'l had just finished coming back form oiling Hexeth when he spotted Uu'ian. As usally a beat red blush spread over his face. Hexeth though nudged him in Uu'ians direction. And'l headed over there and saw Linara. Though the other boy he did not reconize. He knew that they would see his blush. Thoughh he hoped that they did not figure out why he was blushing. He walked over and sat down next to Uu'ian and said " Hello Uu'ian." Though after he said it his blushing got worse. He though hoped the other two did not notice it get worse. Hexeth came over and curled up next to And'l.

Well it seemed that Uu’ian wasn’t the only person to escape his chores relatively early this afternoon. A girl he didn’t recognise came over, Uu’ian supposed she was one of the new candidates Searched for Renth’s clutch. She looked kind of tired, maybe she wasn’t used to all the work people had to do around here; it was quite hard at first. Still she seemed friendly enogh once she’d noticed Tombath, and by extension Uu’ian. ‘Hello, my name’s Uu’ian, and believe me that sounds strange enough sometimes. That’s Tombath over there, rolling in the dust, you’d never know he was ridiculously vain would you?’
Just as Uu’ian finished talking another weyrling pair came along. ‘No, feel free.’ He answered K’vet, Grabth clearly knew no one was going to object to her since she curled up for a nap, why couldn’t Tombath do that instead of something that would only make him want a bath later.
Another chore escapee it seemed was And’l, as normal the blue weyrling was blushing furiously but Uu’ian was by now so used to that that he barely noticed. It was far more entertaining to watch Hexeth nudge his rider over. ‘Hello And’l. Hello Hexeth,. I thought you were supposed to be a shy little dragon.’ Uu’ian smiled gently, Hexeth would most likely hide from being teased but Uu’ian couldn’t resist it.
Tombath picked himself up out of the dirt and hook himself off, craning his neck around to look at his body. Yes his pretty hide was all smeared now, his would have to bath him later. Tombath trotted over to join Uu’ian and the other people and dragons, it was a shame he’d rolled in the dust before Grabth and Hexeth saw him but he could probably bear it since they saw how glorious his hide was every day. You shouldn’t tease Hexth. The bronze scolded. Leave that to me.

Linara was surprised that two other Weyrlings had appeared out of nowhere to come talk to the bronze Weyrling she was already speaking to. She didn't know who the other boy Weyrling was, but recognized And'l and didn't know whether she should smile at him or ignore him. She still wasn't even sure if she wanted to consider him as a friend because he was so weird, but she gave him a little wave anyways, trying her best to be polite. If she were to Impress a queen dragon, or become a fighting rider, she was going to have to get to know the Weyrlings and at least be semi-decent to them. She had decided that she would not be a cruel or too stuck up woman like everyone had described Maylina to be, but she still wanted to meet the rider of black Renth.
She was very happy when the bronze Weyrling spoke to her because she thought he was going to be thingyy and arrogant like some bronzeriders were, but he wasn't he seemed very nice and his bronze seemed goofy and cute.
"It is nice to meet you, bronze Weyrling Uu'ian. I like your name it seems to have a nice ring to it. Tombath is so funny, you would think he would be trying to do his best not to get dirty because he is a bronze and I thought bronzes didn't like being dirty," She said, laughing with amusement.
"Hello there, bronze Tombath," She added, addressing the bronze. "It is nice to meet you, too, green Weyrling and hello, And'l and Hexeth."
She watched And'l for a moment more then started to remember something his brother Bamre had said about him liking another person. He was blushing very much every time he seemed to look at Uu'ian and when he tired to talk to Uu'ian he blushed harder. Was this the person that Bamre had been talking about? It could be, but she did not know. It was cute to think that he had a crush on the bronze Weyrling even though she wasn't sure if she liked the idea of a man going to bed with another man, but since it happened at the Weyr and everyone accepted it, she had to as well.

Grabeth watched the bronze and blue with mild interest, but she didn't care enough to rouse from her comfortable position. Tombeth was a little too rambunctious for her, but Hexeth seemed nice. Not as nice as a nap, though. She lay her head down on her paws, some of the lids coming down over her eyes.
K'vet sat down near the bronze weyrling and started to nibble on his meatroll. When And'l arrived, K'vet suppressed a chuckle at the blue weyrling's blush. It looked like somebody had a crush! He wondered how it would work out in the long run, though, since both were bonded to males, and Tombeth would probably be chasing queens.
"So, Linara. Are you a candidate for the Ebony's clutch?" He asked, partly out of curiosity and partly to distract from And'l's very obvious blushing.

Hexeth did as Uu'ian had expcted to and hid. Though instead of hiding behind And'l he moved as close as he could to Tombath and said to him Brother will you hide me. You promised that you would. He curled up close to the bronze and said to Uu'ian I may be shy, but I want Mine to be near you becuase you make him very happy. And'l was trying to stop blushing though he knew that would be impossiable while Uu'ian was around. He aslo did not really know what to say as he looked at Linara to wait and see if she would answer the other Weyrling's question. Though And'l himself already knew the answer having already meet Linara.

Uu’ian sighed melodramatically and looked at his dusty dragon, a suspicion began to form. ‘He’s actually very fussy; he just thinks dust rolling is a good way to get a second bath. I should teach him a lesson and make him stay like that overnight.’ The weyrling threw a speculative glance at his dragon to see if the verbal dart struck.
Uu’ian was a bit surprised that Hexeth thought him worth speaking to, most dragons only spoke to their rider, except Purth of course but the white seemed to speak to anyone he liked. Uu’ian wondered if Tombath would start speaking to other people, he’d better not suggest it. Who knew who the bronze might try to nag into bathing him…
Tombath curled his body around Hexeth’s smaller one and spread one wing over the blue, hiding most of his clutchbrother from view. I think you embarrassed Yours Hexeth. Tombath commented.

Linara watched And'l and Uu'ian with a small smile. It seemed as though seh finally figured out who he had a crush on. It was cute in a way, but it was also a little unusual for her. They both had male dragons, so what would happen when they both went off to chase other girls? She knew that most people didn't take flight love too seriously, but she thought she would become very jealous of the person whose dragon flew hers! Or, though she didn't want to think of herself as a girl who rode a boy dragon, of the rider whose dragon her's caught. It would be very awkward, she thought.
"Yes, I'm a Candidate for Renth's Clutch. I can bet you already guess that I want to try and Impress the queen," She said, becoming distracted by K'vet's question. It helped take her mind off of things like flights if she remembered that she hadn't even Impressed yet! And oh, the queen! How great it would be to ride her!
And then the bronze Weyrling, who was kind of cute, but she guessed maybe already taken asked her a question too. She regarded him firmly for a moment, unsure whether to consider him a woman-lover or a mixture of both. Then she remembered that she didn't live at the Hold anymore. Someone could love whoever they wanted, man or woman, so that was good enough for her. If he rated a bronze, then he was a good person!
"Hehe, yes, maybe you should. I don't think you'd appreciate having to bathe him all over again and he wouldn't like it if you didn't give him a bath at all. You both would gain something, right?" She said, laughing.
