She had been sleeping, on the ledge of the weyr she shared with Purth, her tail dangling off the edge. Twitch, twitch. Reinth had taken her rider down to break her fast then gone back to bed.
Twitch, twitch, and then all three sets of lids snapping open at once, red and purple mingling in her eyes and, abruptly, the tiny dragon was airborne. Her swift wings carried her across the bowl to the feeding grounds. Yes, she was hungry, desperately so. Hunger from nose tip to tail tip and each color on her gleaming with new brilliance, spun gold and finest bronze and polished brown and sapphire blue and emerald green.
And Tirlynna looked up from her meal. It was the busiest, the most crowded time for breakfast, as chance had it. So, half the Weyr would see the Weyrleader's sister abruptly spring to her feet. Reinth was in the feeding grounds, Reinth was driving the herdbeasts and wherries crazy. Reinth was hunger and anger and *lust* such that the girl cried out before hissing under her breath, "Blood."
Greens did not blood, but Reinth was blooding, Reinth was bringing a herdbeast down, tearing its belly open, going for the soft entrails then, brought up short by her rider, her jaws to the throat. Draining the rich red liquid.
As small as she was, one kill was enough, and her signal near as strong as any gold's. All the males are Mine!
And then she was airborne as Tirlynna fled to the flight weyrs, breakfast left half eaten, her klah knocked over in her hurry to stain the wood as traces of blood stained the feeding grounds.

Reinth The name was inserted into D’tini’s mind with the force of an erupting volcano and the bluerider sighed into his klah, he knew what was coming. There was no point in arguing with Fortuth when he had his eye on a female, however D’tini could have subtle revenge. What about her? He asked, fighting the urgency of Fortuth’s emotions to finish his klah and add his cup to the pile of dirty things. This was… odd. Normally the first D’tini knew of his blue intending to chase was when Fortuth launched himself after whatever dragon was Flying.
D’tini left the dining hall, still under firm control. That was until Tirlynna ran past him, then D’tini was pursuing the young woman down the corridors with the same lust as Fortuth was racing after Reinth in the skies.
Fortuth waited on his ledge, just waiting to spring. The normally unemotional blue dragon’s eyes whirled dizzyingly with every shade of purple imaginable from inky indigo to deep plum and bright violet. He was focused on Reinth and nothing else, D’tini’s annoying behaviour was nothing, nothing at all, compared to the dazzling multihued beauty that was Reinth. As the rainbow rose from the feeding grounds the blue shot off and up after her. He would win her.

The rainbow rises. Good for her. I will chase. Not again!
M'lir ran out to his ledge, wishing he could stop Holath somehow, but he was knocked down by his dragon's wingbeats as he launched himself into the air. M'lir groaned, putting his face in his hands before steeling himself and going to find Tirlynna.
Holath's bugle echoed around the Weyr as he sped to the feeding grounds. Driven by instinct, he didn't have any second thoughts about her blooding. It seemed natural enough to him. He pounced on a beast of his own and drained it, then poised himself to take off, ready to chase the dazzling Rainbow.
M'lir ran after Tirlynna to the Flight weyrs. By now, he was beginning to get used to the feeling of Flightlust, but that didn't make it any less powerful. He blushed, lowering his eyes, although he knew the lust would soon take over and he wouldn't be able to stop himself from gawking.

A blue and a bronze. Was that *all* Reinth was going to get? Didn't they know she was a special female, brighter than any queen?
Stamina was not her strong point, the rainbow just went up and up, trying to get height, a bit of distance on her suitors.
The blue had agility, the bronze size, comparing the two would not be easy and she needed the best male, the strongest. In her peripheral awareness, she might have sensed C'lyn and Kilith leaving, the weyrleader removing his dragon from temptation.
That bronze could not chase her, although she knew not why, her lust not giving space for considerations such as incest between the riders. Oh no, the only thing that mattered to Reinth was the best male, the strongest male. Up, and then she abruptly doubled back, turning within her own length as only a white or rainbow could. Yes, that was a good test. How neatly would they turn, how far would they be left behind?
She had to *test* them. They had to prove themselves to her.
Tirlynna, in the flight room, felt the wind under her wings, she turned to face her males, her men, a wild look in her eyes that spoke of lust but also a warning. Stay back, she has not chosen yet. Stay back.
With little of her normal modesty, the young woman stretched, showing them what a prize it was their dragons strove for in the skies above.

Holath followed Reinth up into the air, the climb easy for his strong wings. He crooned, his eyes whirling violet as he watched the beautiful Rainbow dragon's graceful flight. When Reinth turned in midair, he paused, taken aback by the agile maneuver. He knew he couldn't copy it, so he turned slowly in the air before picking up speed again and racing to catch up. He would have to rely on his speed and agility, because he knew he would never be as agile as the dainty Rainbow.
M'lir lifted his eyes, gaze sliding over Tirlynna's form. A suggestive smile danced across his face as she stretched. He wanted Tirlynna now as much as Holath wanted Reinth.

Up. That was the way Reinth was going so Fortuth followed her determinedly, making his ascent into a bit of a show by rolling a few times in the air, nothing fancier yet. He wasn’t entirely sure what to expect from this flight, he had never chased a female like Reinth before. There had never been one like her before. Never one so beautiful…
Reinth changed direction entirely with one agile turn back along her own length, Fortuth half furled one wing and pivoted on the other wingtip, then almost totally closed his wings to keep from making a full turn. He lost a bit of height on the rainbow but at least he was able to pull up without dumping all his speed.
D'tini stood still, his fingers making little motions that echoed Fortuth's wing movements, eyes locked on Reinth/Tirlynna with all the passion that the bluerider normally devoted to living eah day.

Onward, upward. Instinct told Reinth she had to fly long, had to fly high. She might not know why, but it was there...and so were here suitors. Not bad. The bronze was, of course, clunky and slow, but bronzes were better than blues. Sort of.
No, it had to be the best, the one worthy of her. She dropped, sacrificing some height for a better position, her flight skimming the edge of the rim and out over the ocean. Close, almost too close, to the ground, but yes, this was better.
Out here was better, higher, higher! She was not close to being ready to choose, even as her wings burned...she did not, after all, have the stamina of even a green, but now she was determined to outfly the great golds!
She was the *real* queen of Allride!

Holath was relieved when Reinth stopped her aerial maneuvers to fly straight. He dropped down after her, stopping just above Reinth's level. His wings almost brushed the rim as they flew over it. He smelled the ocean and a welcome sea breeze cooled his wings. He flew smoothly, steadily, ready to be there when Reinth made her choice. He crooned, making his admiration known. He had chased Golds and Greens before, and Reinth outshone them all!

She went high again, then dropped down, taking her flight out over the sea. Fortuth followed like a blue arrow folding his wings to gain the most speed he could in his dive and pulling his legs up as close to his body as possible to avoid clipping his talons on the rim.
Reinth climbed again and Fortuth naturally followed her, soaring upward and drifting from thermal to thermal to conserve energy. Fortuth wanted to have as much energy as possible left when Reinth made her choice but she seemed determined to fly as long and high as a queen. She was worth the effort though this dragon, she was clever and more agile than any green he’d chased.

Such a hard choice. Two suitors, so different that comparing them would be...impossible. In fact, Reinth wanted both, but could have only one.
Her rider and she were one, but whether there was any influence there, any flowing of connection? Impossible to tell. Did Reinth choose, or Tirlynna? Tirlynna who, left to herself, wanted only the white rider.
So, perhaps, yes, it was Reinth who chose, twisting in the air to fall, exhausted, against Holath's much larger bronze form. Trusting that his wings would carry both of them.
And Tirlynna who acquiesced, stepping towards M'lir. One night was all she would offer, but for this one night...

Holath crooned, his eyes whirling violet. Here was a softer side of the big bronze. He reached out and twined his neck around Reinth's, flaring his wings and letting them fall slowly back to the ground.
And M'lir moved towards Tirlynna, even though some very dim part of his mind reminded him that she was taken. He shoved that part of his mind away as he took the Rainbow rider in his arms, kissing her passionately.
