Part 1
(OOC: The decree is out... react, I will be making a Part 2 soon, for the day after. That will be even more fun...)
Nirasha looked over the agenda once again, just to make sure all was in order, and it was. She heard Hellith say in her mind impatiently, Just get the silly meeting started, we must decide what to do about the new colors for right now.
Nirasha watched as the last High Council member seated themselves, and then she began to speak, "The issue of main importance for this meeting is the new colors."
The Master Smith, Gornyn, quickly spoke up with, "Aren't the new colors wrong. Haven't we always had just the five colors of gold, bronze, brown, blue, green? Why don't we isolate them so whatever poison this is, it doesn't spread to our dragons."
Nirasha smiled over in Gornyn's direction and said, "Tonight would have been much easier if we had a clutching queen still of our own, all dragons now come of Malaracyth's line, which is also Racoth's line, because Racoth was our last clutching gold, but Malaracyth was from her last clutch.
Kaema looked up at this and said very quietly, "Racoth is glowing, she will have another flight soon. She is glowing with more than good health."
Nirasha was surprised, but when she thought about it, Racoth had been seeming a bit cranky lately. Nirasha
nodded toward Kaema and said, "If this is true, and she produces a gold, then we can keep pure the lines of dragons. Maybe, we should ban any rider that is a strange color, Western Continent bred, or has produced a strange dragon from returning to the the other continents, so as to keep pure the breed of dragons."
Anear smiled at the other golds and said, "That is a good idea, but what about our spies there? We can't just abandon them to live there, they won't work for us anymore."
Nirasha's once mate, D'ram spoke up at this and said,"We should see about those of our candidates that are now weyrlings, and if they ride a clutching dragon, they will be excommunicated, and luckily they don't know the whole community of spies. If they don't ride a clutching dragon, then they can come back since their dragon won't pollute our dragons. The same for our spies."
K'mall then added, "Harath pointed out that D'kin was unfaithful to us, he went with that young ebony rider. We should pretend to keep him but not to actually trust him, maybe not tell him when we add more people to the system. He could betray the whole spy network."
Anear then added, "I trust my daughter, Katrish, very much even if she only impressed green. She might make a good leader of the spies. I still can not believe that my granddaughter impressed a rinky dink rainbow. I would have expected better of her. Though otherwise I and Vavarth agree with everyone else.
The MasterHarper soon added in his two cents and said, "I think that my dragon riding harpers over at the western continent will be fine with having a permanent position."
Nirasha smiled, everyone was so agreeable today. She gestured at the scribe and said, "Make it a decree, though don't include the spy information. Hellith already told the spies with dragons everything each individual needs to know. Now, that brings us into our next topic, spy candidates. Please guards, bring in the candidates we have left." Nirasha waited as two boys and a girl were brought into the room.
Smiling at the three, Nirasha said, "At the moment, you will each go one by one to the western continent, unless Racoth flies, and then things will be worked out anew. You will each be briefed before you go. My list says that the boy, Harnequin, is the first candidate to go. Am I right?"
The boy with light brown hair that was so light in color it looked wispy nodded and said, "Yes, I am Harnequin, and I am scheduled to go first in two days. He had a haughty look on his face, as if he thought himself at the high council's level. He was the candidate trained by some strict rider. The rider had vouched for how much the boy was loyal to the High Council, but Nirasha would have said that loyalty was only out of the belief that the boy had that he might one day run the High Council. Well, good riddance then.
Nirasha looked around to see if anyone had anything else to day and Anear then said to the guards, "Go ahead, take them out, they are done with."
D'ram then broke in with, "Kopath is blooding, get the other queens out of here."
Chaos broke out, Racoth would fly again! Anear quickly got out of the room and to her gold. Nirahsa took her time, making sure of a couple of things while leaving. Nirasha knew that Hellith wouldn't fight another queen, she was too long out of her flying years, but Nirasha would follow the rules long ago made.
Nirasha proudly stood up, and with little use of her cane she went to the scribe and said, "For tomorrow, ssenger dragons bring in the Lord Holders, we might have some things to discuss with them." Nirasha then turned to all the non-riders in the room and said, "Find yourself a partner, flight lust from a gold can be pretty stressful. If need be, take a messenger rider to get yourself away from here." Nirasha then turned and walked stately away. She boarded a calm Hellith, and the two betweened to the comfortable Weyr Community Hold that she and Hellith stayed in in their old age. The two used to farm, but they now needed the support of the weyr community, as other older riders also did. Nirasha's weyr Community was where the old Ista Weyr used to be, a very comfortable place.
Racoth woke in a furry, like she always did, though, she didn't need reminding anymore to blood. She blooded four beasts, slinging each of the carcasses away when she was done. She normally only blooded two or three beasts, but for some reason she had blooded four this time. Kaema allowed herself to blend in like normal when Racoth took off, calling out to her males.
Two bronzes, Kopath and Harath, replied as well as two browns that acted as runners for the High Council, Galltieth and Fabsath. Racoth wasn't happy with the meager offering, but the would do. She took off and kept going, allowing the boys to show off an wear themselves out. Once more, she was a young dragon, flying her maiden flight.
She was flying too much for her old self, but she didn't seem to notice. Soon, the two browns were out of the competition, then Kopath's old bones wouldn't keep him goin. Finally, Harath managed to catch a slowing down Racoth, whos old bones were finally catching up with her. The two twined and the old lady Kaema was in the hands of the older bronze rider K'mall.
It was a long flight, especially for the old queen, and it was bound to be a good last clutch for the aging gold. Hopefully,, it would bring the future the High Council hoped for.
