((I thought it would be entertaining to have a secret life of flitters thread so here we are. All firelizards are welcome.))
It was early, very early in the morning indeed, some people would surely be up, and the sun had made it above the horizon at last. A fair of wild firelizards had descended on the beach to fish and hunt spiderclaws, but they studiously ignored a few tame firelizards who also occupied the beach as if they weren’t quite certain what to make of the others.
Steadfast, who was not living up to his name for a change having abandoned Uu’ian and Tombath while they slept, looked around and puffed himself up a bit, he was the boss now! Only blues had come so far and he was better than all of them. The brown stood up and strutted in front of the group of blues like a sergeant inspecting his troops. The blues looked monumentally unimpressed by him or just ignored Steadfast altogether.
Zephyr made a derisive fluting sound at Steadfast, the brown was silly thinking he could boss Zephyr, Zephyr had been running messages for longer than Steadfast had been hatched, he wasn’t about to obey the brown, unless he told Zephyr to do what he wanted, then Zephyr would listen, but only because he wanted to.
Storm agreed with Zephyr, Steadfast couldn’t boss them, he was a brown, not a queen and anyway Storm was just as big. The pale blue ‘lizard puffed up his own body and half unfurled his wings to demonstrate his size, hissing like an enraged feline as he did so. He was BIG!
Steadfast was rather taken aback by the attitude of the two hold blues, why did they mock him? He chirped inquiringly, trying to work it out.
Meanwhile, as Steadfast found out how little respect he commanded, Kismet did his best to attrct the attention of the wild females by collecting every shinything he could find into a pile, females liked shinythings, they would want to look at these shinything, then they would notice Kismet and how clever he was. They would remember Kismet when they Flew. Alright he had help but Kismet was clearly in charge. To make it even clearer who was the boss here Kismet chattered bossily at Shay, commanding the more simple firelizard on where to place the sparkly rock he’d fetched.
