Teosk slept, now, in the den that had been set aside for them...a smaller den, for the russet was not that large a hatchling.
No, not large, but... She had thought him a small brown, now, as Teonie regarded her sleeping bond, she knew he was not, that the mutations had spread into the whers. His feline pattern gave it away.
Even the 'he' seemed uncertain. The mind that resonated with hers was not as male as she had at first thought, but definitely not strongly female. Perhaps, like a white dragon, Teosk was neither.
He would do. Until proven otherwise, Teonie would consider her wher to be a male. Sleeping, his fierce anger at the world was muted. She stood, finally, stepping to her doorway. How could she convince the other wherlings that Teosk was under control and not a danger to them or their bonds?
