There was a very bright colored dragon by the lake. Fioreth shone with brilliance...
...which meant that the hard work M'kar had just put in was not wasted. "You are the best looking dragon on Pern," he told the fire, his tone completely cheerful. It was a good day, it would be a better one, and his dragon was growing well..
Well, as well as he was going to grow. Fioreth, not exactly the largest dragon on Pern. "So glad you aren't the size of a bronze, though."
Fioreth rumbled. I am the perfect size
"Of course you are. One of these days, we should find somebody to bug." In a few months, maybe even a male greenrider!

L'the headed to the beach to relax alittle. He had recently had some problems with a certain rainbow rider, which had distracted him form the fact that Bamre had shown up half dead. Yet he was over that now and everything seemed a bit brighter, besides he still had a few months before he had to worry about Blumath's flight anyway. The green followed close behind him as he headed in the direction of the lake. That was when he spotted another certain pair on the beach that made him smile and blush at the same time. He walked in M'kar's direction and waved his hand saying "Hey M'kar. How you and Fioreth doing today." The blush was evdent on his face, though L'the was the type who could keep neverousness out of his voice in these situtions. Though the blush gave away his thoughts. Blumath when she saw the other pair her eye's lit up also and she said to Fioreth Hello Foireth how are you and yours doing today? Wave and Tree saw the Firerider and both flew over to him, the green purching on his head and the blue on his shoulder.

We are fine. the fire sent back.
Unlike rainbows and the like, fires did not seem to mature any faster than other dragons. M'kar was not sure about L'the. He had thought something might develop between them, but it had not happened that way.
The dragons had got in the way, of course, and that happened. One accepted, as a rider, that one's personal relationships were not one's own. "I suppose you're about to start what I just finished?" A chirp from a nearby stone betrayed Flirt's presence, the green preening as she realized there was a handsome blue (to Flirt, all males were handsome) present.
