♥ Kora ♥
[/color]Name: Koramine
{ko-rah-meen}
Age: 17 Turns
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Undecided.
{Kora is inexperienced in this area and thus remains undecided.
Go with Bisexual.}
Rank: Journeyman Dragon/Wherhealer
{Has an affection for whers}
Family: A non-blood-related "Aunt Sara," twin brother Van
Pets: Does Van count?
Physical Appearance: Kora is a tall, thin woman with little to speak of in the chest-area, and only enough curves that she doesn't look like a flat board. With long, thin, silver-blue eyes and a firm set to her jaw, she is "handsome," as her aunt would say. Her lips are soft, though her unnaturally sharp canine teeth have been described as "scary," and her nose is petite and delicate. Her eyelashes are long.
All things most women called "feminine," and "lovely." Not on Kora, though.
With her large hands, long limbs, and short, dirty blond hair, Kora is constantly mistaken for a very pretty boy.
Personality: Growing up, Kora was always treated like a boy, even when she tried growing out her hair--people just teased her for having long hair while they begged Van to grow his hair out. Only Sara treated her like a girl, putting her in dresses and putting ribbons and flowers in her hair. When this got her teased even more, Kora decided to just accept her boyishness.
She accepts girls' flirtations and seems happy to flirt right back, going so far as to blow them kisses or even kiss their cheek or hand. That is not to say she is particularly attracted to girls; while at this point she is not against the idea, she prefers the ever-elusive, yet frustratingly inclusive, man over fawning girls who she casually describes as "fickle."
No dog has ever liked Kora. In fact, many have decided to either attack her, or treat her like a tree. Felines and anything related to the dragon?(wher, flit, dragon) She gets along with them splendidly, same with most other animals. But never dogs. It was a mutual hatred, though.
{Kora's secret inner girl: In truth, Kora loves cute things, which is probably why she never had a problem with flirting with girls; she thought they were adorable in the first place, so it didn't take much to tell them as much. She keeps a small box of cute things on her nightstand with a lock on it; it was a present from her aunt. On the outside is an ornately carved dragon, but, inside, all the wonderful shiny, soft, colorful, or just downright cute things she's found.}
History:
Saravilla Druvirn--Sara--found Kora and Van in a burned down wagon on the side of the road, having heard the familiar crying of a baby. Inside the wagon was an ornate basket in which the children slept, along with many expensive looking things that had been burnt beyond recognition, along with what was left of Kora and Van's parents. She heard rumors about a high-ranking(though not overly noteable) family having gone missing, but never did find out for sure who they were.
As an experienced midwife, Sara accurately guessed the babies to be around a year old when she found them, and it was easy to see they were twins. For the first ten Turns of their lives, Kora and Van were inseparable. They ate together, slept together, played together, even cried together. When one got hurt, the other one always knew, no matter how far apart they were--that was how Sara found out when Kora got into her first fight at age seven.
Kora only got more violent as she got older, and the two of them never lost their "connection." Unfortunately, that meant Van could never not tell his sister when someone picked on him. Everytime someone tried to mess with him and he started to cry, Kora would come sweeping in and "teach them a lesson." She got to be quite good at fighting, particularly after she suckered a Wherhandler into teaching her when she was 12, despite already having had two Turns of Healer training--which Sara had hoped would calm the Wild Child down.
At sixteen, Kora officially became a journeyman when her master announced he "had no more to teach her." Many people--including Sara--assumed he was simply tired of trying to teach Kora, who had never done well in anything other than fighting, but Van constantly tried to tell people that Master thought Kora was an "excellent student." He'd heard him say so to another Healer when he didn't think anyone was listening; he was a man with a very sick sense of humor who found it fun to act exasperated with his best students, particularly when Kora teased and taunted him back.
When Van indicated his desire to "run away" to Allride Weyr, Kora was vehemently against it. However, Van wouldn't budge on this subject and, when he threatened to go alone, Kora finally gave in and got dragged along.
If Candidate:
What they hope to impress: She's not particularly interested in Impressing at all; the only reason she's a Candidate is so she can be closer to her brother and learn more about dragons in the hopes of furthering her studies as a Healer.
Read: Yes, but only for medical purposes
Write: Yes, but only for medical purposes
{She keeps a journal of new medicines and illnesses. Or more, she keeps several.}
Figure numbers: Yes, but she'll never admit it; she'd rather no one ever find out that she's quite good at mathematics, although Van is, obviously, very well aware of it.
