"That's it," M'kar told Fioreth, grinning at his dragon. Although it was clear the fire would never be any larger than a green, he was growing well.
With his wings fully spread and half on his hindquarters, he looked big enough. More than big enough, the young man thought.
And, of course, being a small dragon, he would be agile in the air. Which they would get to enjoy eventually. He felt a certain impatience. Waiting for one's dragon to grow seemed to take forever.
Even when the dragon wasn't going to grow as big as most. But despite that, Fioreth was gorgeous. His coloring, his...
"You are looking really good."
The dragon lowered his head to nuzzle his rider, Thank you

Lysita and Kellerth were out walking, which they often did together as they explored the weyr. The young girl noticed an unusually coloured dragon reared up beside a person, who she supposed was it's rider. "Hello there." She called out as she waved, a smile creeping onto her face. Kellerth tilted her head curiously as they continued towards the pair. Greetings. It is a nice day isn't it?[/color] The young queen asked the unusually coloured dragon, she thought it might be a good one to get to know.

Well, if it wasn't the queen weyrling from the newest clutch. M'kar waved to the girl. "Hey there," he called.
He did not remember her name, and was a little too embarrassed to ask. Fioreth nuzzled him again, then tilted his head to regard the queen. It is lovely, Kellerth
Not a compliment...the fire dragon well knew he never had any hope of interesting a queen...he was one of the weyr's smaller dragons, although he could potentially fly a rainbow and father an egg or two. That would be odd, M'kar thought, regarding the two dragons. Size wasn't the only noticeable difference.
They were built differently too...Fioreth was more like a small blue in build than anything else.

Lysita held out her hand as she reached the pair, Kellerth went over to inspect the strange dragon closer. "Weyrling Lysita, of gold Kellerth." She said, introducing them both, all the while smiling warmly. She turned to regard the dragon, taking in the markings that were now noticable from being closer. "I've never seen a dragon coloured in such a way. Is there a name for the colour?" The sight of the dragon had caught her curiousity and Kellerth's as well.

"We call him a fire dragon," M'kar said, grinning and resting a hand on the arching neck. He held his other hand out to the weyrling gold.
"Lovely color. On the lighter side, but definitely still pretty. I'm M'kar and this is Fioreth."
He made sure to specify his dragon's gender as well, in case the gold weyrling could not quite determine it. She did have a lovely dragon, though. "She's going to be a good big one."
Golds had to be big, to have room for all of those eggs. He wondered if that was the only reason for their much greater size.
Maybe, maybe not.

"I can see why." Lysita responded as Kellerth sniffed at M'kar's hand before nosing it gently in a friendly manner. He's nice. I like him. "She certainly is and I'm finding that she is quite friendly. Friendlier then I imagined a gold could be." She smiled as she glanced at the young and pale gold that was still nosing at M'kar's hand in demand of a scratch. Lysita raised an eyebrow at the firerider's comment that Kellerth would be big. "I sure hope she isn't quite as big as Ramoth. The largest Queen on record if I am not mistaken." She replied, thinking of the reputed greatest Weyrwoman and her amazing golden dragon. Why don't you want me that big? Kellerth asked, half curious and half hurt. Then you might become the largest Queen on record, and yes that might be good. However it would be extremely hard for me to get on you.

M'kar nodded. "A lot of golds are aloof, but some seem to be very, very maternal and open and want to mother *everyone*. So, of course they're friendly."
Fioreth snaked his head around to touch muzzles with the much younger gold and M'kar grinned again. "They're kind of cute, aren't they. The boy moved his hand out of the way, but only as far as Kellerth's nearest eyeridge. That was, after all, the scritch target.
"And I only meant that she would be bigger than Fioreth. We don't think he'll make any larger than the larger greens, tops. He's going to be a pretty small dragon."
By dragon standards, of course. By other standards, he was still huge.
