It had been a long, slow process.
How did one deal with a dragon afraid to fly? The answer was with care, with patience, and with love.
Bonjouth now leapt from his ledge with hesitation only his rider noticed, said rider firmly secured in his fighting straps. J'tor never flew without straps, even if he was only going across the bowl. He did not want to do anything that might induce even the slightest bit of fear in himself. Anything his dragon might pick up on.
Now he patted the brown neck. When the brown did fly, he was a lovely dragon...powerful and agile in the air. But he still did not quite...quite forget his hesitations. "Let's go towards the lake, eh?"
The brown furled his left wing to bank in that direction.

Hexeth leapt of his legde as he and And'l flew towards Bonjouth and his rider. Bonjouth was not the only dragon who had been getting over his fears. Recently Hexeth had been slowly becoming more and more social, And'l was also beggaing to do the same. And'l had recently began to suspect though that Hexeth's recent drop and shyness had alot to do with Tombath. Even though the bronze hid the blue when he wanted him to. Still And'l felt that Tombath gave Hexeth strength in some way, so he felt that was the reason. Though at the same time, as Hexeth became less shy. So did his rider, though the two still liked to dissaper to hide somewhere in the weyr half the time. It was obvious that habit would never die.
Though having And'l being social half the time was better than him not being social at all. The pair flew towards the flying pair, and as they did And'l waved at J'tor, though he said nothing becuase he was not sure if the other would hear him. Though Hexeth spoke to the older dragon, Hello Bonjouth how are you and yours doing? Can me and And'l join you two wherever you are going? The blue flew around the brown as though he was showing off the agilty that his smaller size gave him.

J'tor laughed. "And'l, your dragon is a total showoff."
Bonjouth, for his part, stayed in level flight, letting the blue show off his agility...and waste all that energy. The smaller dragons tended to do that. Of course, the brown was well aware that that was exactly what they were, well, for. Why they were needed.
Of course you can join us, Hexeth. But we were just exercising...not going anywhere in particular.
"We're going to the lake, for now. Just stretching Bonjouth's wings." The brown had to be kept fighting fit, after all, even if there remained no sign of Thread.
J'tor was sure that would not last...

Hexeth continued to fly around the brown, and he spoke to him Well then I guess me and And'l will fly around with you and yours, or wherever you two are going. Though the blue did stop showing off his agility as much, it still seemed like that was what he was trying to do, So it seems that you are flying around alot more willingly I take it Bonjouth. Hexeth had learned to pick up on things just like his rider, so much time spent together and being closer than most dragon and rider pairs had defintaly born some fuirt. Though the blue's comment was not ment to pick on the older dragon, he was mearly curious being that he knew that the other dragon had a certain fear of flying.
And'l laughed a small bit, though it seemed almost bearly noticeable thing, "I guess you could say that is what he is doing. Though I have never seen him showing off very much." The blue dragon did not seem to do that very much, he was much to shy to be a show off. Always prefectly content to be in the shadows close to And'l. Though a trip to the lake did sound like fun, "I think I would like that, and me and Hexeth do need to get out in the sun more." It was quite obvious they spent as much time as they could inside, And'l's skin tone was quite pale. Well at least as pale as any dragon rider could be.

J'tor flickered a grin at the brownrider. "No, but he's blue, he's got every right to show off his agility. And he's grown into a good looking blue, too."
I have been reminded that if I do not fly at other times, I'll never catch a green Bonjouth sent to the blue, wryly.
J'tor didn't mind Bonjouth chasing greens, although he did rather hope he never caught, say, Blumath. Other boys were not J'tor's interest.
"Okay. So why don't we go to the lake and hang out for a bit?" He flickered another grin at the bluerider, one hand on Bonjouth's neckridges. It did feel good to be up here...which was probably a big part of why Bonjouth was not afraid any more.

And'l nodded and said in a thoughtfull manner, "Yes that is ture, but I could never really picture Hexeth going around and showing off in fornt of anyone." The dragon was just like his rider, and had always seemed to shy to do show. And'l still remember the newborn Hexeth who seemed like he was panicing because of the crowd at the hacthing. Try as he might And'l could not picture his shy blue showing off. Though who knows, one day that might change, but for now the blue found it most comforntable just to hide.
Hexeth found Bonjouth's comment to be quite logical, if one did not pratice at flying, then chasing a female would be hard to do, Yes that sounds like that would be a good reason. The blue himself though sounded like he was unintersted in greens, though it was more that he was just to shy to do anything in the way of flirting. Him and And'l diffently where two pees in a pod. Though And'l always told him that he wouldn't be shy once he started to chase a female. The blue seemed to doubt it. Though he had never tried so there was no way for him to know, so he diecded to just trust And'l like he always did. Just like And'l always trusted him.

"He is rather shy, isn't he. Bonjouth isn't that big on showing off either." Unless there was a green involved. Not that he'd managed to catch one lately.
Well, there would be plenty of chances. The brownrider patted his dragon's neckridges. "But browns tend not to go for the fancy flying anyway. Not sure about the coppers."
The female browns *were* a little smaller, after all, than the average brown, although not much. They were also female. "It's the greens who are the real showoffs...and some of the moves I've seen Reinth and Purth pull make me wonder how their wings stay attached to their bodies!"
The rainbow and white were just insane, and Bonjouth actually shivered a bit at the thought.
