The creche was quiet in the evening. Many of the children had gone off with their weyrfolk parents.
But some, lived there full time. And one of them was currently being held, very carefully, in the arms of her father.
Would C'lyn's daughter ever ride a dragon? With her handicap? Whether she would be allowed to Stand might be in her mother's hands...
He looked down at her, feeling, for a long moment, all the weight of his responsibility. Her eyes opened, regarding him. She was not a baby any more, she was a toddler. And she had, in his mind, all of her mother's looks.
"They grow so fast..." Not as fast as dragons. But fast enough...

Kelyna came into the creche behind C'lyn. Karlyn was 2 now and Malaracyth would soon be flying again, very soon.
Kelyna smiled when she heard C'lyn comment and she said quietly, "Yes, it wasn't so long ago when she was born it seems, and yet 2 years have passed."
Kelyna had no idea what she would so with her mute daughter. She wasn't sure if being mute would make Karlyn unable to ride a dragon or not. Malaracyth would not comment and . All she would say was that the answer would come with time, but time was flying by.
She then asked C'lyn, "What do you think we should do, about Karlyn's situation? The Malaracyth says to wait and see, but time moves quickly."

C'lyn considered that. "I'm honestly not sure. She is probably sensitive enough to Impress...the question is whether her handicap would make her a liability to the Weyr."
He frowned a bit. "Kylith is not sure either. At some levels, having a dragon would be the best compensation we could give her, and most wing communication is dragon speak or hand signals anyway. It could work."
Of course, Karlyn had a decent chance of Impressing well, even gold or ebony, but he didn't voice that...for now.
