J'tor had escaped from the Weyr. That was how he liked to think of it. The brownrider walked along the shore, although he did not go far from his sunning dragon.
Bonjouth had grown into such a lovely brown, such a good-sized one. Even people not his rider had said so.
Yet, J'tor felt as if something was missing from his life. Maybe he needed a weyrmate? Zig and Zag flew ahead of him, dancing and diving around one another in the air.
He took his thoughts away from serious matters and stopped to watch the firelizards play. There always seemed to be fairs of them around, tame and wild. In the balance of it, life was good. Too good.
Part of him felt as if something had to happen, soon, to balance things out. Something bad.

Malacryth is rising soon. She's going to take all the males! You'll get them back soon enough. I can't stand watching her get all the attention. I know, love. I'm prettier, aren't I?
Maylina sighed and took a final sip of her klah. Of course. Renth, would you like to get out of the Weyr for a while? Let's go to the beach, she suggested. Even though the arrogant dragon matched her well, it sometimes got tedious listening to all of the complaints.
Fine. I want to sun. Maylina walked outside and found the Ebony waiting for her in the weyrbowl. Soon enough, they were on their way, and Renth blinked between to reappear a few seconds later above the sea. Star, Copper, and Tsunami clung to Maylina's jacket, and they flew off as soon as Renth landed to play in the waves.
They weren't alone. Renth debated whether or not the brown was worth her time, then decided that she had better win him over before Malacryth rose. Greetings, Bonjouth, she said, a slight purr to her voice. Maylina considered ignoring J'tor all the same, but then again, he wasn't bad looking. Plus, he had male flitts so Star would bother her if she didn't talk to him. "Hi, J'tor," she said simply.

One of the two flits was male. And he ignored Star. Completely. Zig only generally had eyes for one female, that being Zag.
J'tor turned as the ebony rider approached. She seemed to be being nicer than usual. "Hello, Maylina."
Bonjouth rumbled a greeting to Renth. Renth. You are looking well.
The brown might or might not chase Malaracyth. J'tor was hoping he would not, not wanting to risk ending up with the leadership. Or getting between Kelyna and C'lyn. Renth was a different matter. Maylina had no weyrmate...but then, who would want to be weyrmated to her? She was definitely the most arrogant of the queenriders.
He was probably safe. Renth pick a brown? Not likely. But the big black dragon did look very well indeed...although not, fortunately, glowing yet.
They did not need two queens rising close together, that was for sure.
