OOC: I *really* want to actually play this character.
The beach near the hold was quiet at night. And, for once, Teonie was also quiet. Normally as brash and aggressive as the feline-spotted wher that lay on the sand nearby, she was, tonight, in a rather deeply thoughtful mood.
It was not so late that somebody from the 'day shift' could not stumble upon them, but late enough for the wher to be awake. Teosk's eyes whirled slow blue as he watched the water...his mellow mood perhaps explaining his handler's.
The tawny wher was growing to a good size, he would be one of the larger whers. His temperament, though, did not resemble that of any of the other colors.
Fortunately, he was showing none of that aggression now, although anyone who threatened his handler...would surely see it.

About 20 meters down the beach form the wher and his handle a large shadow would apper form the sky and land next to the shadow of the ocean which would cause it to be hard to see. Well at least for normal eyes anyway, though the wher would esaily be able to identify that it was a dragon and rider pair.
As And'l slipped off of Hexeth and landed on the beach, Leaf quickly found a place on his shoulder. As a smile came to the Shappire riders face, he felt a nugde on his shoulder and turned to look into the swirling blue eyes that was full of specks of yellow that showed the Shappires worry. Recently her voice had stayed at it's femine tone and And'l had yet to hear her speak in the voice she had on the day he impressed her. Though And'l still found the Shappire still could not deicde what she was. He knew that if the last week had been Hexeth with a female voice, then next she would go back to the more masculanie voice she was born with. She spoke softly to him, And'l, are you sure you are going to be ok. You sure you don't want me to go with you. As Hexeth had matured, she had become less posseive than she had been when she was first born. Though the dragon never stop being a worrying creature who wanted to follow around her bonded like a newborn weyrling.
And'l laughed softly and reached up and ran his hands along the dragons snout, "I promise I will be fine love. Tombath will miss you if wakes up during the night. I will send Leaf if I need you. I promise. I just need to walk along the beach to clear my head ok." The Shappire whimpered a little, but finally agree Alright Mine, but you better keep your promise. And'l smiled with a loving look at his dragon, "I will love. I promise" The Shappire softly nuzzled her bonded before she took of and headed bettewen to go back to thier weyr. And'l wacthed until she was out of sight before he shook his head and spoke with that affection any rider had for thier dragon, "Silly dragon." With those words he began to walk down the beach in the direction of the handler and his wher. Though he had yet to notice them, and nethier had the green flit sitting on the riders shoulder.

OOC: Teonie is a chick.
Teosk snarled a bit as the dragon landed and his...her...rider approached. He did not want company on his beach.
Teonie put a hand on the tawny wher's shoulder. "No, Teosk. It's a free beach, they have as much right to be here as we do." She did wonder what a dragonrider was doing out quite this late. Dragons did not see well in the dark, but she supposed they knew the way back to their own weyr well enough.
She could just see a blue glint on the hide, so it was a blue...or a sapphire, although the rider seemed to be male. Sapphires, she had heard and seen, chose women.
Teosk snarled again, then subsided, dropping to the sand at her side, wings straight up. He looked like some woodcarver's image of a wher in that stance. His tail lashed a little, but at least he was backing down from the overt posture of threat. He was even more aggressive than most whers, and Teonie often had her hands full with him.

OCC: Sorry about that. I was not paying attention. I guess I just did not have egough money to do so ;D
And'l continued his walk down the beach, though the young man was mostly looking out towards the ocean as he did so. Thoughts of the past and of how things had been where following through his head, and now the thoughts of how good everything was in his life at this moment. What could be called a almost chesire cat type grin spread over his face. He was probably the most happy dragon rider on the face of the earth at this moment. Yet And'l always felt really good when he was able to clear his head like this. The only times that he knew where even better, was when he was under the furs being held by Uu'ian.
Then the sound of Leaf hissing cut through his thoughts like a hot knife through butter. He looked to try and identify what the protective green had seen. He was about to scream out for Hexeth, so she could head in this direction just incase it was somthing bad, when his eyes rested on the wher and it's handler. This only made a soft smile come to the young mans face as he reached up and began to scrath Leaf's eyeridges and said softly, "Good girl. Now just calm down. We will be fine." The green stopped her hissing, and began to relax.
And'l was gald she had seen the pair, becuase it would not have been good to just suddenly walk up on a wher like that. This gave him a moment to relax and make himself apper as unthreating as he possiably could. He walked closer to the pair and stayed where they could plainly see him, as he came closer he smiled softly as he spoke saying to the girl, "Hello there, I was just talking a walk along the beach. I did not mean to brother the wher if I did." He was not sure if he had or not, "So what is your name?" Though thier was that tone of nervousness, that was always in And'l's voice and probably always would be.

"Teosk was hatched bothered," the young woman said. "Don't worry too much about him. He knows what I'll do if he actually hurts anyone."
Unlike dragons, whers were quite capable of doing so. However, Teonie knew exactly how to keep the troublesome russet in line. "I am Teonie. Is your dragon a blue or a sapphire?" It looked a little big to be a sapphire, but one never knew. The knot was blue.
Close up, And'l would be able to clearly see that this was no ordinary wher...why, it was spotted like a southern feline! Maybe that was why it was so bad tempered?

And'l looked over curiously at the wher and smiled alittle bit and with a soft laugh he was finally able to relax a little bit as he said, "I know a couple of firelizards with the same kind of attaitude. Though they have someone to keep them in line too." Though in this case it more like, some dragon, Purth knew how to keep his brothers flits form going a little to nuts, even if Bamre somtimes had a hard time with them. He looked over at the wher as he examined over it and noticed that it did seem differnt form any of the others that he had seen and he commented, "What kind of wher is that, it is covered it spots. Though I have to admit, that it looks quite cute though." And'l though anything that was dragonic was cute. Be it actully the dragons, the firelizards or the whers. They all looked cute to him.
When asked about Hexeth he had to laugh about it for a moment, before he said, "Oh you mean Hexeth, well that is actully a funny story really. Up until a few sevendays ago, he was a blue. Though now that he has had his flight. Well she is a Sapphire now." He looked down at his knots curiously for a moment and commented aloud, "I guess I better get these changed to a Sapphire rider's knots soon probably." He wondered if he had confused the wher handler at all. Andol did not know about how many people knew about his gender confused Sapphire.

Teonie arched an eyebrow. "A dragon can't change gender. Maybe he got confused because sapphires don't seem to bond to boys too often."
Of course, Teosk was only male in a very arbitrary fashion...although the wherlings were starting to show an interest in the opposite sex now, the russet had not even looked at a single green tail. He might just be slow.
"Or maybe...you know, every so often a human gets born with the mind of one sex and the body of the other. I've never *heard* of that happening in a dragon, but it could."
Teosk nudged her. She was paying far too much attention to the silly dragonrider and not enough to him. To pacify him, she reached to rub his nearest eyeridge, something whers appreciated every bit as much as dragons did. He was a good sized wher, in the bronze and brown size ranges, and some people thought he was a brown, from a distance, just an oddly marked one. "And Teosk is unique. We're calling him a russet, because he's not at all like a brown in personality and there are the spots. I'd imagine there will probably be others like him in future clutches, though."
Teosk nudged against her again, making a soft rumbling that came dangerously close to a purr. "And Teosk is not *cute*."

And’l scratched the back of his head as he laughed softly, “Yeah it is kind of confusing to me too, though we think it is more that she is a really big sapphire who is gender confused. I mean she certainly has the body of a female. She had about five chasers during her flight, though still she seems to still think that she is a blue. So I don’t know about having the wrong mind in the wrong body, while she may be built like a blue, she still is a female. As for the way she thinks, well I guess that depends on what mood Hexeth is end. Though most of the time she acts likes a blue. Though Hexeth is too shy to flirt, which is probably a good thing so.” When the rider realized that he had began to ramble he tried his best to sum it up a bit, “So I don’t that is the case, because her body is more of a combination of the two, when it comes to color, build, and well you know. The same applies to the way she thinks, because trust me. I have never seen a male dragon being that motherly.” He wondered if he had only confused the girl more. Sometimes he did that when he started talking.
He realized that maybe it would be better if the wher handler could just see Hexeth and he called out in his mind to the Sapphire. It would be only a few minutes later that the large shadow of the dragon appeared overhead. Though once she landed close behind her rider, only to partially curl up around him. And’l pointed the new arrival, and said “Teonie, meet Hexeth. Hexeth, meet Teonie.” The Sapphire said to the wherhandler, Hello Teonie, how are you.
It was then that his attention was brought back to the wher, “Yes I can see what you mean. Though he still is quite cute, plus this only shows the dragons are not the only ones who are having new colors hatch. And’l did not like calling the new colors mutations, to him they are just more colors of dragons, fire lizard, and now wher.” And’l had good vision in the dark, because he spent so much time in it sometimes. Hexeth’s vision was probably not too bad either.

"He is *not* cute." Teosk growled, as if to emphasize his handler's words.
"I can think of plenty of words to describe Teosk. Cute is not one of them. He wasn't even cute as a hatchling. His dam had to talk him out of going wild."
She said that with one hand on the russet wher. She did, however, nod to the dragon, "Hello Hexeth." Not at all startled by the bespeaking...whers might not be dragons, but the woman knew all about the mental bond.
But sheesh. Calling Teosk cute. He probably called his dragon cute, too, and in her mind, a full grown dragon was totally not cute!
