Fortuth had very nearly been taken by surprise by Grabeth, if it hadn’t been for the distinctive glow her hide had developed during the course of her morning nap the blue never would have marked her out as a green about to Rise. It seemed Grabeth just didn’t see a reason to change her normal habits just because she was going to Rise.
Naturally the blue was in the air the moment Grabeth made her challenge, he hadn’t chased for a while and Grabeth was a rather attractive dragon, if not one Fortuth knew all that well. Yes. The normally unemotional blue put all of his passion into that single word reply.
‘What?’ D’tini looked up from his paperwork, and looked around his office, confused by his dragon’s sudden interest in… oh no. Fortuth! What are you playing at? Faint amusement at D’tini’s reaction came back down the bond, almost drowned out by the wave of Flightlust that came with it. Is it not obvious? I am chasing Grabeth, but this is no game. Now, be quiet.[/color]
D’tini spluttered inarticulately at his blue’s reply and hurried out of his office, it probably wouldn’t be too good an idea to be wandering around the weyrling barracks in the grip of flightlust.
((can't see why not Reine, he is male rather than neuter.))

Mine
M'kar was stepping out of the lower caverns. "What's up, Fioreth?"
Grabeth
Oh, Faranth. For a moment, the young fire rider stood there, unable to remember the location of K'vet's weyr. Then he did, and set off at a run.
Meanwhile, the tiny fire launched himself from his ledge. He was after the green in moments, knowing it would be a short flight. That gave him a chance...he was no larger than the female he chased, and only greens, rainbows and the smallest sapphires would be within his reach.
Not that that would necessarily stop him from going for a copper, even if his rider would rather he didn't. For now, though, it was only Grabeth.
Only the green as she leapt. Bright red-orange wings caught the air after her. So far, the only competition was a blue.
That was good. Not that he could not outmaneuver any bronze, but they did have a habit of sneaking in and stealing the greens. Could they not stick to their queens? Apparently not, but he saw none of them right now. He saw, then, only her, bright and glowing as she was.
And hey. Green and orange had to go together better than green and blue.

Grabeth snaked her head under her wing, watching the suitors approach. First was Fortuth, a very handsome Blue. She crooned enticingly at him, leading him on. Next came Fioreth, the one and only Fire dragon. Grabeth was pleased that he had shown up. He was special, and handsome too! There were only two so far, but they were both quite admirable chasers. K'vet saw them arrive through his dragon's eyes. Fortuth meant D'tini, the Weyrlingmaster and his teacher. That was a little awkward. M'kar he didn't really know, but that didn't matter right now.
Grabeth sped up a little, deciding to begin things for real. But as she did, she realized that she didn't know many tricks. She wasn't a very athletic dragon and suddenly she realized she wasn't too prepared for this. But she wasn't going to let on to the males about that! Grabeth decided to try something she had seen the Queens do. Beating her wings harder, she began to rise higher and higher.
When she had climbed far enough, she dove, plummeting towards the ground. When she was a few dragonlengths from the ground she leveled out again, looking back to see how the males had reacted.

Fortuth flexed his wings and firmly resisted any urge to show off his flying skills this early in Grabeth’s Flight. It was far too early for him to be wasting energy like that, even if she did greet him with a croon. No Fortuth would save his energy for when it really mattered.
As her second chaser arrived Grabeth apparently decided to make things a little more challenging. Good, Fortuth enjoyed a challenge. The blue put on speed to keep neatly behind Grabeth, not right on her tail but certainly within striking distance should she falter this early for some reason.
Fortuth rose higher and higher in the wake of the green, his resolution not to waste energy going right out the window as he was caught up in the chase. As Grabeth folded her wings Fortuth furled his own wings to his sides, pointed his muzzle down, and dropped like a stone, revelling in the feel of wind rushing past him and the sight of the glowing hide before/below him.
All too soon the ground began to rise alarmingly fast and Fortuth was forced to bring his body back into a horizontal position to slow him somewhat before he snapped his wings open and changed the momentum of his fall into a rush forward before the ground could rise up and hit him.
D’tini blinked dazedly and fought off the urge to go charging off to K’vet’s side and, well… it was probably going to be awkward enough that he was there anyway. Odd, D’tini shook his head ruefully; he never considered this aspect when he took the job. With a shrug that seemed to dismiss all his troubles for the moment D’tini stepped thorough a doorway into the room he (somehow) knew K’vet would be in.

Fioreth, smaller than the blue, turned on a wingtip, following her down. He had not chased before, but the only thing he knew right now was that he wanted to catch up with...
...no. He *needed* to catch Grabeth, needed to claim her, needed to wrap himself around her and support her with his wings. Plunging, the ground close, then his wings spreading, catching himself, flowing forward. She had gained speed with her move, but not that much speed.
M'kar stumbled into K'vet's weyr. His vision was overlaid with what his dragon was seeing, his arms spread a little, echoing the fire dragon's wings. There was green in it, somehow, and the green was K'vet...but no. Not until he chose. Not until she chose, and thus he hovered, he hesitated.
Fioreth did not waste energy on bugles, he would win her with the skill of his flight. No blue could compete with his agility, his beauty.
