W'ran watched over the old queen and her eggs just to make sure no one could get close to contaminate them. They refused to allow even the candidates near for fear of contamination.
Avirth was off getting the queen Racoth some food and Harath was watching over his mate. K'mall sat beside Kaema andW'ran was in the stands. They were all there to watch over the clutch.
W'ran was proud of the fact that his dedication to the High Council had gotten his Community Weyr hold in the position to host a hatching. This meant that HE was going to get to be a weyrling master. Of course, this time The Gold and Bronze riders and their dragons would stay as well to make sure each and every weyrling was properly trained.
There was a total of 15 candidates for the hatching. The queen had to have a lot of choice. The high council had brought back Harnequin and had brought two others along, a gold candidate and another male.
W'ran had a female training at his community weyr hold and he had brought in 4 others to equal 6 females; a large amount for the queen to choose from. He had 3 boys training at his place and 4 had been brought in to give the eggs a good choice. He would keep any leftovers to train for the next hatching. That meant the totals were 6 girls and 9 boys. All in all a good number.
Suddenly the dragons started making the vibrating sound that signaled the hatching was beggining. He stood and watched as the 15 candidates were pushed in white robes onto the makeshift sands that had been created for the gold queen.

The candidates were all scarred and they milled around like sheep. The girls were forced over toward the queen egg, but Jaline refused to release Vorandal's hand. They found themselves the division between the male and female part of the semi-circle around the eggs.
Harnequin manuevered himself as close to the bronze egg as possible and gave everyone else a haughty stare.
Suddenly, one of the little greens hatched to show a pretty pale ghostly green that moved over toward her chosen boy. The boy, M'dlim, called out, "Her name is Cavoth!"
Then, a blue sized egg hatched out a sky blue dragon that went over toward a tall brown haired boy named,C'din, and the boy cried out, "His name is Darnoth!"
While that egg was impressing a haughty looking dark green had hatched. She walked along the boy clumsily. One boy she ran into and knocked over. She ran over the boy leaving claw marks along his body. She went along the outside of the semi-circle until she came to a short and touch looking girl, Villina, and the girl cried out, "Her name is Jacath!"
While the green was running around, the blue and the brown had hatched. The blue ran toward the boy and most of them moved away scarred that they would end up like the boy who had had a claw punch through his throat and jugglar's vein to kill him. The blue squwacked at the dead boys body. and then moved to a pale red head, J'kale, and the boy said, "My Denlith doesn't like the body there. Could someone move it?"
The large brown moved along the boy ranks and the girl ranks. He sniffed them all before coming back to V'dal and saying, Mine, your Bralith has come for you.
V'dal released Jaline's hand as he was lost in impression. The queen egg was rocking, but the bronze egg was the first to hatch. A bright bronze beast came out of the egg and met face to face with his H'quin. H'qion cried out, "His name is Fylanuth."
Finally, the egg everyone had been waiting for finally broke in two beautiful halves a magnificent and striking young silver veined gold step out to look over the crowd of candidates with cynical eyes. She moved toward Jaline, but a girl stepped in her way and the gold tripped and tangles in the girl's legs. The gold untangled herself and left the girl crying over her ruined legs. Healer's waited to run out there even though one of the girl's arteries had obviously been hit. They weren't allowed out until the gold impressed. Lucky for the girl, the gold impressed to Jaline quickly and said to Jaline, Mine Jaline, your Crowneth would like food.
The girl was lucky not to loose her life, but she did loose one leg.

W'ran was happy with the impression. The girl he trained had not impressed green or gold, but sh had also not been an idiot and been injurred. None of his candidates had been injurred and two had impressed.
H'quin had gotten the bronze like he thought H'quin would and J'kale had gotten a blue. Over all he was pleased. The hatching had proved that something had contaminated the eggs on the western continent.
