C'lyn had lost weight as well as status...he was still interim Weyrleader, but everyone knew how likely it was that Kylith would catch another queen...highly unlikely.
Oh, the bronze would get over it, unlike an older dragon who might have never chased again, but he might not even try for the next gold to rise...regardless of who it was.
They had a young gold, they had the ebony, and they had...Reinth. Who was not a queen, not really. Or was she? He had never managed to finalize in his mankind exactly how to view his sister's dragon.
Of course, she had been meant to Impress the first gold to be hatched at Allride. He knew it, she knew it. So, perhaps...
But he did not have his weyrwoman. Not any more. And Tirlynna could emphatically not be Senior. Which left the two young queenriders...and left him alone.
Yet, he was no longer completely enwrapped in grief.

Since impressing to Kellerth, Lysita had had to mature rather quickly. Not that she had been immature, she just needed to gain more maturity then her turns would have people think. She guessed that all queenriders had to go through that at some point, whether as soon as they impressed, or as they went through weyrling training.
The biggest turning point though, had been the lose of the senior queen. She knew there might possibly be a day in the future when she might have to fill in the senior position, but she hadn't though it would come so soon. Even still, Kellerth had yet to rise, and there was Idara and Tuith to consider as well.
She was walking into the dining hall as she thought about what might happen, which gold might rise first, and so wrapped her her thoughts that she bumped into someone. Her mind came back to reality in a split second, yet too late to avoid the collision.
"Oh, C'lyn. I am so sorry. I...I didn't see you there. I..I was..I was..." She stuttered, the words sticking in her through like needlethorn in skin. She dropped her head and shook it from side to side once before looking back up.
"I am sorry about Weyrwoman Kelyna, but I am here to help, and I'm sure Idara will as well." She said, then groaned as she realized what a mistake that could be.
"I'm sorry. I..I wasn't thinking clearly." She apologised, dropping her head against as Kellerth sent a wave of love and warmth.

Softly. "Don't stammer at me. You might well be Allride's next Weyrwoman." C'lyn let out a breath, regarding the young goldrider.
Young for such a position, yes, but not that much younger than his beloved...especially when they had first come here.
The next queen to rise would be senior. That was the ancient tradition. Whoever won her would be Weyrleader. That was also an ancient law.
They had two golds, one ebony and arguably Reinth...although C'lyn was still not sure whether to count her. "And even if you are not, you are a queenrider." Again that breath was let out. "Join me?"
She might not have been the woman he most wanted to lean on right now...but Tirlynna was not there.

Lysita allowed herself to actually look at the man before her, to take in his appearance. Of course the grief of losing Kelyna was there on his face, in his eyes, yet he wasn't letting it control him, or so it seemed.
"I'm sorry, it just tends to happen when I get nervous." She replied, taking a little time to think out her next words.
"I was thinking about that when I bumped into you. There is Idara and Tuith to consider, as well as Maylina and Renth. Both women are older and more experienced at being riders then I am." Sure, it may have sounded like she was trying to put herself down, to make herself seem less worthy, but that han't figured into her mind, she was only pointing out the facts as she saw them.
You may not want to accept it, but C'lyn is right. It just depends on which of us rises first. Kellerth told her gently, love radiating from the pale gold's voice, her marvellous beloved dragon. I know that dearheart, I do. I just don't think I'd be cut out for it, not yet anyway. Lysita replied through their bond just as C'lyn asked her to join him.
"Of course." She answered softly, the corners of her mouth lifting in a light smile. Should she place her hand on his arm? Should she just walk beside him? Faranth, things were getting a little awkward and she wasn't keen on that.

"But this is a traditional Weyr," C'lyn said gently. "The next queen to rise first will become senior. I have even been contemplating whether we should include Reinth...but I'm not sure that's a decision I can make on my own."
Tirlynna was, after all, his sister, which could make including her look like bias in *either* direction...if Reinth became senior than C'lyn's chance of ever being weyrleader again was likely gone. Not even for the leadership of the Weyr would he let Kylith chase Reinth.
Besides, the bronze would likely not be able to catch her. "On the one hand, she is a clutcher. On the other hand, her as senior would likely elevate a brown or even bluerider to the leadership position...and although I'm not one to be prejudiced over color, most of them have neither the training nor the inclination."
A very GOOD reason not to include Reinth in the running for senior. The fact that Tirlynna would likely time it again to get away from the idea...
