Name: D’tini
Age: 25
Gender: male
Sexual Orientation: homosexual
Rank: bluerider
Physical Appearance: D’tini is tall, in a rolled out way, he looks as if he was intended to be shorter but someone stretched his to his current height. To match this stretched look D’tini’s arms and legs are long and stick like with prominent elbows and knees.
His face is a pointed and almost pretty affair highlighted by dark brown hair that falls over darker brown, almost black, eyes. D’tini often tips his head to one side or the other when curious. When his is angry about something, and he is often angry, D’tini’s skin flushes, which is very noticeable due to his fair skin.
Personality: D’tini is young and filled with a passion for life that many lack but he cannot abide those who waste or squander the time of their lives. D’tini’s definition of wasted time and other people’s differ sometimes though, he would say that no day in which you learned something is truly wasted but he would also assert that doing something that you don’t like and don’t have to do is not only a waste of time but rather stupid.
D’titi has a very quick temper, as you may have guessed, and many things spark him off into a ‘glowering and muttering’ mood, stupidity will beget acidic comments and insults to D’tini, his dragon, his friends, or their dragons will often trigger outright attack. He does attempt to control his temper and has gotten much better since Impressing Fortuth however there are those who like to see how far they can push D’tini before he pushes back.
Despite he predisposition to rage and physical violence D’tini regards himself as a man of honour and principles, he defends his friends and family, tries to live up to people’s expectations of him if they are high and exceed them if they are low, and he would break his own arm before he dealt, or even wished, harm on a child or animal.
History: D’tini was born in a northern Weyr community to a pair of greenriding weyrmates. D’tini’s parents already had two sons, who worked together to make his life a misery when he was young. Ironically by the time D’tini reached his early teens it was clear that he was going to be much taller than either of his brothers, and even his father. Sadly this turned out to not be to his advantage as he was often accused of being a bully when his smaller but sneakier older brothers worked to provoke him.
During his teens D’tini was offered several opportunities to stand for the clutches that were decreasing in size and frequency, as were his brothers. At the first clutch all three siblings stood for the middle brother Impressed a brown and was subsequently almost removed form his younger brother’s life.
D’tini’s oldest brother never Impressed, remained objectionable, and eventually left the Weyr community to start his own cotholding. As turns passed by D’tni began to lose hope of ever Impressing, though he studied hard in his candidate classes and learned all of dragons he could from the oldest riders in the community. In his twenty second turn D’tini stood for the final clutch he was allowed to, his hope had faded to an all time low and he was filled with formless anger at the injustice of it all. He didn’t want to Impress for no good reason, he wanted to go places, see and do amazing things, help people.
The hatching happened far too fast, with dragonets of all shades bursting out of their eggs and Impressing, and mauling, the assembled candidates. In the middle of it all, as D’tini’s eyes traced a group of three hatchlings Fortuth came to him, and wasn’t noticed until the blue headbutted his mindmate in the leg several times and announced himself. D’tini, I don’t know if you’ve noticed but I’m not over there, I’m here. I am Fortuth, and I am absolutely starving.[/color]
As a weyrling D’tini found out that he wasn’t allowed to do much to really make a difference, the council wouldn’t let him, or anyone else. With Fortuth’s council the weyrling rider held his tongue and put his mind to his lessons, and to the records. Unfortunately the records did not ease his mind. Instead of useful information he found records of the signs of thread returning and recognised them in current events.
Not knowing what to do about the information, and his own suspicions made D’tini more short tempered than ever, if he hadn’t had lessons and duties to occupy himself he might have gone mad, or died in a senseless fight. When Fortuth said he’d heard something interesting and relayed all he’d heard about the new Weyr D’tini immediately decided they were going and began setting things in motion.
Family: mother, greenrider
Father, greenrider
Brother (28), brownrider
Brother (33) cotholder
Pets:
Firelizard:
Name: Kismet
Colour: Blue (000033)
Appearance: An average blue in size and shape, his hide is a deep navy blue that is quite unremarkable but for the odd banding pattern on his tail where lighter blue shades alternate with his base colour.
Personality: As if to make up for not being much in appearance Kismet has a big personality. Right from his hatching this blue has been one of the biggest flirts around, trying to impress greens and even golds. One of Kismet’s more annoying habits is to take pretty gifts to his favourite girls, sometimes these are scraps of bright fabric or gaudy southern flowers but more often this flit will steal from humans to give shiny jewellery or pretty ribbons to the many loves of life.
Dragon
name: Fortuth
Colour: blue (5C26D9)
age: 3
Appearance: an eye watering, almost purple shade of blue covers Fortuth, this shade is broken by spots of a paler tone over his wing membranes and an almost white face stripe that starts between his eyes, widens as it runs down his muzzle then suddenly thins down to the merest line that veers off around his right nostril and vanishes.
Under this most garish of hides Fortuth is a fairly small blue dragon with average sized wings that look big and clumsy on him even though his flying is very neat and economical.
Personality: Fortuth is the calm, logical counterpart to his fierce and hot-tempered rider; his eyes nearly always show the relaxed shades of blue and green and it is rare indeed to see those tones moving very fast. To put it bluntly Fortuth just isn’t very emotional about most things, actually he seems a bit detached as if things only affect him after he’s thought about them for a while. The only exception to this is when he flies after a female, then his chosen had better just brace himself and hope to ride out the storm.
