Getrara couldn't believe she was still living. She didn't save the weyrwoman and she ran right past her dying brother thinking he only had a minor injury. She didn't even realize that he was dying until his dragon started keening and through himself between.
It was all her fault! If she was a better healer she could have saved Kelyna. If she was better she would have noticed her brother bleeding out and gotten him help instead of running by him thinking about how much of a whimp he was. She was ashamed of the very fact that she believed him to be a whimp and melodramatic. Even if he was emotional, he was her brother and he played beautiful and haunting music. He was her brother and she should have saved him.
Puroth gently nuzzled her knowing that no words would help her. She leaned in closer to her possessive and sometimes grouchy dragon. Puroth wrapped her neck around Getrara and Getrara broke into a fresh spate of sobs. "Its all my fault."
No mine, if anything it was my fault, I am the one who wouldn't let you practice your craft because I was selfish.
Puroth, it is never your fault!
Puroth wasn't about to let her human leave her side. She just stopped hers from suiciding, and now she wasn't aboutto let her wallow in self pity. It is not your fault, and that is the end of that. I think that those who died would want you to live on.
Getrara looked shocked for a moment and then through her arms around Puroth'sneck and her sobs were hidden by her face turned toward Puroth.

T'noi and Teal'cth were on their way to the lake, as Teal'cth had complained about being itchy, when Teal'cth spotted the copper pair. The brown turned his head towards his rider and deftly but gently caught T'noi's tunic in his teeth.
"Teal'cth! Wha..." He started to ask for an explaination but the sight of the copperrider hugging her dragon gave him pause. He enchanged a look with his brown, who nudged him towards the copper and her rider. T'noi started striding towards the pair, but then the sound of muffled sobbing drifted into range and he paused, glancing back at Teal'cth. She griefs, needs comfort. The brown said and left it at that, causing T'noi to let out a weary breath before approaching the pair more cautiously.
"Getrara?" He called the name softly, almost hesitantly as he stopped a couple of feet away. He didn't want to go closer unless either the dragon or rider gave permission. He pained him to see a fellow rider looking so distraught and he glanced back at Teal'cth with a pained expression. Was there a way he could help, or did Teal'cth have another reason for pushing him toward the pair? Either way, he couldn't help unless Getrara wanted to be helped, and yet he wanted to help, he just wasn't sure how.

Getrara saw the other rider approaching, and she wasn't sure if she wanted to face him right now or if she wanted to turn and run and never look back. Her stillness was indecision and shock at seeing another person, a person who called out her name. She didn't see reflected in his eyes what she was, like she could see from most people. She was the healer who let to drgonriders die, but she didn't see blame from him.
Mine, no one blames you, you see reflected in them what you feel simply because you want to see it. Stay here, you need company other than me. For once you need the sharring I was once so jealous of and refused to give you. I will never stop you from being a healer again because now I see how it is to need someone else. Talk to Teal'cth's rider.
"Hi, T'noi,"she whispered feeling her old shame seep through her and invade her. She wanted to hide nomatter wht Puroth told her, but she would follow what Puroth wanted because Puroth was worried about her.

T'noi moved closer, seeing the sadness in her eyes, and gently caught her chin in his hand, so that he could catch her gaze.
"Hey now. It wasn't your fault what happened. Sometimes these things happen and we can't stop them no matter what we do. Sometimes we're not meant to stop them." His voice was soft and soothing as he tried to reassure her. He felt the heaviness of the losses as all the weyr would, especially the riders. Then he was lost for what to say, even though he was sympathetic, he wasn't really all that great at comforting.
Teal'cth, meanwhile, carried on to the lake and went in. The brown swam around a bit before looking over at the copper and gesturing with his head that she join him. She looked like a lovely specimen of a copper and he'd be grateful if she'd accept his offer.

Getrara could feel T'moi's hand lifting her head up, forcing her to look up. She looked up into chocolate brown eyes that were warm and carring. Compassionate, that was the word. She could hear his words, but she was trying not to let him see the tears in her eyes, which was why when he finished talking she lost her transfixed expression and quickly drew her head away to wipe her eyes.
"I blew my brothers injury off as light and ran for the weyrwoman. I thought I could help her, but I couldn't, and yet I stayed around when my brother needed me. By the time I got to him, he was already almost dead from bleeding out. If I hadn't failed, he would still be alive."
Getrara was starring into space, memories of that horrible day and all the dead flashing through her mind, her mind whispering over and over again that it was her fault...
Puroth looked at hers for a second worried, and then decided to let T'noi handle it. She just hoped that T'noi wouldn't take advantage of hers. Then she flew to the lake and dove in to join the younger brown. Hers needed time with someone else. Already he was helping her, though neither of them might notice, Puroth could feel it in hers.

T'noi knew there was much sadness in the copperrider, it was clear from her words that she blamed herself for her brother's death, and even the weyrwoman's. He knew though, that deep down inside, she knew the truth, she just didn't want to admit it to herself.
"Getrara, you did the right thing. I know family is important to everyone, or at least most people, but the weyrwoman is the most important person in the weyr." He started, his mouth only slightly curved into a soft smile, one of reassurance and understanding.
"Of course all riders are important to the weyr, but without the weyrwoman, where would we be? Likely in a much worse position then we are. You did do the right thing, even if it doesn't seem like it." He added, reiterating his earlier words. Faranth, it broke his heart to see such a lovely woman feeling so upset.
Teal'cth swam over to Puroth and nuzzled her lightly, crooning softly before swimming away, water splashing backwards onto the copper in his wake.

Getrara didn't know how to respond. His words sank in, and she thought about them. It seemed as if he was twisting something. She went for the weyrwoman because she thought her brother wasn't badly injured. She thought he would be fine. She thought she could save the weyrwoman.
Then it came to her, "All the people he injurred died. Many didn't even die immiediatly, it was as if he killed them so they would feel pain. As if he liked there pain. As if he carried the hand ofdeath, and those he touched were to die." She look up at T'noi and her words came out in a whisper, "We are all slated for death, an we don't even know it. But he knows it."
Puroth chased after the brown for spalshing her, determinded to get him back. She pausedfor a second at hers' speech, but those were lofty thoughts, and other humans would understand them better. She continued to chase the brown until she could manage to splash him.
Getrara watched Puroth sadly for a second. Her words seemed to echo in her head. We are all slated for death.
