The day dawn clear and bright, with only a slight chill to the air. One particular sapphire glowed so that she closely resembled the namesake of her colour. For now, she still slept, while her rider sat on his bed watching her.
F'red wasn't afraid, per se, he was more worried that he would be unable to deal with whatever riders came to him, as their dragons chased. He loved Menudoth dearly, and wouldn't give her up for anything, yet he had no clue why she chose him. He'd heard that sapphires tended to go for homosexual males, if any, and he was pure heterosexual. So Menudoth's chosing him was a completely mystery to the young rider.
Suddenly Menudoth's eyes snapped open and the first waves of lust hit F'red, making him gasp in surprise at the intensity. The young dragon swung her head to look at her rider, her eyes a mix of red, purple and the normal blue-green. Do not worry F'redmine. Trust your Menudoth to choose well. She crooned softly into his mind as he walked over to her, giving her muzzle a soft rub.
"I...I do." He stammered, giving her a small smile as she stood, almost calling for her to come back when she launched off the ledge. The sapphire glided down to the pens while her rider watched, taking down a fat buck and latching onto it's neck. Unlike the ebony or golds, she didn't need any warning to only take blood. Which she did with one other buck before leaping into the air. Males of Allride, hear me now. I, sapphire Menudoth, request that you join me in flight this day. Menudoth called, circling lazily as she awaited her suitors.
"Menudoth!" F'red murmured his dragon's name, a plea or a warning, he didn't know. What he did know was that her lust had already made his skin too warm to handle his shirt and he pulled it off, flinging it into a corner of the room. Who would come to his dragons call, only time would tell.

Bina was oddly focused today, Zamora thought as she pottered around her weyr, tiding up this and that. It wasn’t like the brown to spend so much time on the ledge, gazing off into space.
Not into space ZamoraMine. At my lovely clutchsister, does she not look beautiful? Binagoonganth picked up his rider’s thoughts with ease, she wasn’t particularly blocking him out and the pair of them had a tight bond. The brownrider padded up to her dragon’s side and looked across several ledges to look at Menudoth, who had to be the sister Bina was talking about, the normally pale sapphire seemed unusually bright today from what Zamora could glimpse of her. She will Fly today. The red brown informed his rider. Soon. I would like to chase her. It seems fitting that our first Flight be together, since we are from the same clutch after all.
‘thingyy Bina, definitely thingyy. Who says you’ll even catch her? Just because she’s your sister doesn’t mean she’ll choose you.’ Binagoonganth had asked permission in an oblique way, and Zamora had given it, also in an oblique manner, but both of them knew exactly what the other meant, that was the nature of their bond, and the nature of their personalities. As the brownpair saw the sapphire from begin to stir Zamora turned away, making her way back inside to give her dragon his space for flight, and to seek out F’red on Bina’s behalf once the Flight began.
Binagoongath watched impatiently as the sapphire woke and readied herself, then kicked off his ledge in a deceptively lazy looking manner, almost falling into a thermal rising up from the ground of the weyrbowl and using the heated air to assist his currently economical flight after Menudoth. If she was going to blood there was hardly any reason to take off at his full velocity and wear himself out before the chase even began. The brown approved of the way Menudoth dispatched her kills, efficient yet still beautiful.
Menudoth, I have come to join you in the skies. Binagoonganth made a simple statement of fact rather than trying for any elegant words, he’d rather let his actions do the talking.
As her dragon took to the air Zamora slipped out into the corridor and walked down towards F’red’s weyr, glad that it was close enough that she could reach it before Menudoth had done more than blood and make her challenge. She wasn’t totally sure of what to expect, was even slightly fearful (though she’d never admit it), but she knew she didn’t want to be wandering around the Weyr filled with Bina’s lust. Zamora considered F’red’s door for a moment, then pushed it open without knocking. ‘I have come to join you.’ She echoed her brown’s statement.

Sapphires were fairly small dragons. For some reason, that thought came into M'kar's mind. It was then followed by a wave of desire.
"Fioreth!" Well. He had been wondering when the fire dragon would get off his butt and go after a female. He hadn't even chased Danielth, who might have clutched. Now, apparently, he was going after Menudoth.
The image of the sapphire was burned into his mind. And Menudoth had...a rather cute male rider. M'kar found himself heading for the sapphirerider's weyr quite rapidly and with a bit of a spring in his step. What could not be avoided should be enjoyed, rather than merely endured, and he planned on enjoying this flight. If Fioreth could beat the brown, that is, that he saw also pursuing through his dragon's eyes. His dragon's wings as the fire dragon leapt after the sapphire, and the woman ahead of him.
Well, if not, he was sure he could find *somebody* with empty furs for the night, but then his desire tunneled in on F'red and on Menudoth, and the beautiful sapphire dragon and...he just let himself go with it, felt the wind under his brilliant wings, almost as bright in hue as any gold.

Holath was in the mood for a chase. It had been a long time. The bronze wanted to prove himself again, and show everyone that he was the best in the Weyr. Menudoth was a pretty Sapphire, and he thought they would make a fine pair. He had been keeping an eye on her for the past few days, sensing that she was close to rising. Finally, she awoke, flying for the feeding grounds. Holath bugled and launched himself into the air, following her there.
M'lir shot up in bed, gasping as the waves of lust hit him. He groaned softly. He still wasn't used to Flights, and he didn't like the feeling of losing control. Unfortunately, Holath also seemed to be good at winning them. There was nothing he could do to stop it, though. He hurried out of bed and dressed quickly. He gathered the dragon's name from Holath. Menudoth was ridden by a male rider, which only made things worse. M'lir had been in the Weyr long enough to not care that much about who slept with who, but he preferred girls and it was a little awkward to feel desire for another man.
Holath was oblivious to his rider's objections as he circled over the feeding grounds. I answer your request, Menudoth! he called, his whirling eyes fixed on the beautiful Sapphire as he waited for her to really take off.
M'lir, meanwhile, had found F'red's weyr. He joined the other riders, nodding at F'red in greeting, his eyes flicking over the man's bare chest as the lust already began to work its way through his mind. He was too shy to say anything, so he just stood there quietly.

Yes...Yes. The males were coming, and their looks pleased her. First was Binagooganth, her clutchbrother. He was a dark red hued brown, a darkness of colour that could be seen to compliment her lightness of colour. Binagooganth, I am pleased to see you as I'm sure Mine is pleased to see Yours. She told the brown, increasing her circling enough so that her wingtip just brushed against him.
Second to arrive was the unique Fire dragon, Fioreth. She crooned sotftly, her tail caressing over his wing as she flew past. No one could mistake you, Fioreth. She commented lightly, teasingly. Then came Holath, a handsome bronze. Your presence is a high accolade for me, Holath. Keep hold of that faith in yourself. She whispered into the bronze's mind, coming up behind and above to lightly trail her claws over his back before veering off to the left.
Show me your strengths. Menudoth said to all three as she started off towards the lake, for the moment soaring as a bird would. The air carressed her wings while the ichor in her veins heated, the blood she'd consumed energizing her and giving her strength.
F'red was still stood on the ledge, watching his beautiful dragon as she flew. He recognized the dark red-brown, knew Zamora would be there soon, and sure enough she came in without any preamble. He felt a little relief at knowing it wouldn't be all male riders. Thank Faranth for that! But sure enough, the first male arrived as his dragon joined Menudoth. He gave M'kar a small nod, fear of the prospect of ending up with another man making him tense. He became even more tense when the bronzerider arrived, his gaze finding and settling on Zamora. Knowing that there was a woman there made it more barable, yet there was no way to know who Menudoth would choose.

OOC: Wrong rider name! *ducks*
Perhaps M'kar sensed that tension, he remained back from F'red a little, giving the sapphirerider space. But then, that was what you were supposed to do. Stay back until the dragon, the lovely one made her choice.
And Fioreth was determined it would be him, her tail touching his wing and sending electricity through his form. He wanted her more than he had ever thought he could want anything, and he was bright red and gold to her blue, brilliant. There was no other dragon like him. Not on all of Pern. No, he was Fioreth and while he might be only the size of a green, he would compete with these larger, heavier males. Strength?
His strength had to be shown in ways those great...lumps...could not compete with, in a twisting barrel roll that demonstrated his greater agility, brilliant light flaring from his wings as if he was the one who glowed, he was the one who sought to be chased. But no, it was only the pattern of the fire dragon's coloring, as unique as a precious gem, as some crystal lit from within. More interesting than any mere brown, surely...

Binagoonganth crooned softly to the sapphire as she spoke to him, he doubted that his rider would play any part in influencing what followed but it was nice of her acknowledge him and his bonded. As Menudoth brushed against him the brown turned his head to make a nuzzling gesture that only landed close to his sapphire sister’s hide, he didn’t want to touch her, not yet anyway.
When Menudoth turned to greet the other arriving chasers with similar warmth Bina was not disturbed, rather he was pleased that they would all started the chase on equal footing. Strengths? What had the brown that these two did not? Binagoonganth was simply in the middle of his rivals, not to swift and agile as the fire, nor of such great endurance as he bronze, of course he possessed each attribute in some measure, perhaps the mix would attract the beautiful sapphire. The brown executed a graceful turn on one wingtip to follow Menudoth as she headed for the lake, anticipation rising in his blood.
Zamora padded into the room a little way and leaned against a wall in a place that put F’red clearly in her view. As Menudoth brushed against Bina Zamora’s hand rose to reach towards the sapphire rider, but as was proper she couldn’t reach him yet. The small part of her that was still Zamora wondered why F’red would stare at her so, but the part of her that was dragon didn’t mind, welcomed it even.

Holath crooned as Menudoth's sweet voice slipped into his mind. She was kind, not just beautiful. Holath didn't really need any extra confidence, but the Sapphire's words definitely gave him an ego boost. He crooned in response, his eyes whirling to a deeper shade of purple as she traced her claws up his back. The light touch fueled his desire, giving him even more determination to be the one who would catch Menudoth.
The bronze knew his strength. Solid endurance. He couldn't do a fancy barrel roll like the Fire dragon, but he would be with Menudoth until the very end of her Flight without getting too tired. He flew on steadily and smoothly, catching a thermal to glide on. He tilted just so, letting the sun glint off of his metallic hide. He knew he was handsome, and that enough should be enough to catch the Sapphire's eye.
M'lir stood by F'red, his eyes focused intently on the rider, but his vision showing him the image of the beautiful Sapphire. He was completely immersed in his dragon's thoughts know, feeling the bronze's lust and the sensation of flight.

The smaller fire dragon performed a lovely barrel-roll, that pleased the sapphire very much, and the brown executed a lovely wingtip turn, although perhaps not as graceful as hers were. Whereas the bronze didn't bother with any tricks, he was simply showing that he could follow where she lead. While an admirable trait, it certainly wasn't going to win Menudoth's favour over the other two.
The sapphire swooped down, skimming the surface of the lake with her claws, banking to the right and allowing the wingtip to briefly touch the water before she straightened out and regained the height. A height that went up and up, passing through the wispy clouds so that she flew above the puffs of white. Her wings glistened with the waterdrops from the clouds, the sunlight making them seem to add an extra layer to her glow. The young sapphire could feel her rider's preference, even if he wasn't purposely sending it, and she did admit to herself that the brown had impressed her. She wasn't ready to make her choice yet though, even though she did position herself a little closer to him.
M'kar had hung back, which help to ease F'red's mind somewhat yet M'lir had come close and was looking at him intently. The sapphirerider wasn't sure exactly what that look held, but he wasn't in on the closeness of the male. Yet Zamora, she reached out towards him, he raised his own hand and started to reach towards her outstretched one, but he pulled it back with a sigh. It was Menudoth's decision to make, not his, no matter how much he wanted to sway her.

The fire skimmed the water as well, sending splashes across the red and gold of his wings. As she seemed to lean towards the brown, he shot upwards, producing another barrel roll. Reminding her of what she risked losing if she chose one of those big, clunky males.
M'kar took half a step towards F'red and then back again. There was no candidate for mothing here...he doubted the bronzerider would be up for it. He wanted F'red so badly, but he could also see the sapphirerider's uncertainty.
Maiden flight, of course. There was plenty to be afraid of for the rider of the female, who was guaranteed 'action'. Action he might not want. Did sapphires choose...nobody really knew how sapphires chose. Or fires, there being only the one of them, his beautiful Fioreth, who strained for this female as she climbed higher and higher, the clouds condensing water onto his wings and tail.

Binagoonganth followed the glowing sapphire faithfully for a while and with all the grace at his command. The brown had decided that would be his tactic, swift, controlled flight, he couldn’t hope to outlast Holath, nor make a more stunning display than the bright and agile fire, but if nothing else at least his economical flight would save him energy as well as looking good. As for doing something to impress Menudoth, he’d have to sezie that opportunity when it arose.
Dipping his course gracefully Binagoonganth trailed his claws and tail in the water as he passed low over the lake, not particularly showy but a clear statement of his willingness to follow wherever his lovely sapphire might lead to the best of his ability. With one massive wingbeat that sent up a shower of water droplets the brown began to ascend, in his own unique way, rather than a straight climb or a display of fancy flying Binagoonganth chose to skim from thermal to thermal, letting each one raise him a little higher in turn as if the brown ascended an invisible stair that had been placed in the skies for his very own use.
In the clouds the brown levelled out fairly close the swifter sapphire happily bursting through the misty forms and trailing vapour from his wingtips and tail in what he felt must be a most splendid look. Certainly Menudoth looked splendid up here, almost as if her hide was scattered with the precious stones her colour was named for. Binagoonganth gave the female an admiring look and a affectionate croon as she drew near him for the moment.
Infected with Binagoonganth’s lust Zamora pushed away from the wall and straightened herself up proudly, for a moment there F’red had reached out to her, which surely meant that even though she wasn’t particularly strong or particularly nimble as her rivals were she must have done something to attract the sapphire’s attention. Shame she couldn’t figure out exactly what, but sooner or later she was bound to find out.

Holath sensed that the Sapphire was not as impressed with him as she was with the other two. That simply would not do! She was just won over by their silly tricks. As Menudoth descended towards the water, Holath faithfully followed. He dipped his wings down, letting the tips skim over the water. He swept his tail back and forth, making a splash. He gave a snarl of jealousy when he saw Menudoth move closer to Binagoongath.
Flying upwards once more, Holath moved quickly, with sweeping wingbeats. He didn't like seeing Menudoth so close to the brown. He tried to angle himself in between them. The bronze was so sure he was the best, and he hated being proved wrong.
M'lir managed to disentangle his own thoughts from Holath's enough to realize that the bronze had probably just lost the flight for himself. He shook his head, his own pent-up frustration and lust clouding his mind. He waited to see what would happen, suspecting that things wouldn't turn out well for his dragon.

Thing had been going so well, until the arrogant bronze thought he could force her into choosing him. Not likely. She pulled back her lips, baring her teeth at the bronze as she came about and flew straight at him, claws extended. A single claw managed to touch, slicing a thin line along his neck, before she pushed off from him. Her push had been a little strong, making her collide with Fioreth, but she pushed off from him as well. She closed the space between herself and Binagooganth, crooning softly at him, her wings tiring considerably after the aerial acrobatics. Binagooganth, you have shown strength and wisdom. Let us come together so that our riders may take solace in one another. She said to the brown, reaching to twine her neck and tail with his.
F'red felt Menudoth's anger as her own, his gaze narrowing as it zeroed in on M'lir with hostility. He felt like going over and punching the man, yet he stayed where he was, knowing that the emotions he felt weren't all his own. Soon enough the anger was gone, and he sighed with relief as Menudoth made her choice.
"Leave!" He snarled at the men, stalking the short distance to Zamora, and lightly cupping her cheek in his hand. With surprising speed, he scooped her up and carried her to the bed, leaning down to kiss her, a part of his mind thanking his dragon for her decision while the rest was focused on the task at hand.

The bronze had lost; Binagoonganth knew that at a bone deep level. What about Holath’s actions was particularly offensive the brown couldn’t guess but even before Menudoth snarled her ire at the larger dragon Binagoonganth was clearing her path. Wisely as it turned out since the angered female chose to mark Holath. As she kicked away from the bronze and collided with the fire Binagoonganth’s eye colour flickered from bright purple to the duller colours of dismay, surely he had lost her.
However it seemed that the sapphire dragon was not to be forced into a choice by happenstance, and Binagoonganth’s eyes brightened again as she pulled clear of the bright hided dragon as well. Were they to continue the chase now? The brown dragon flexed his wings in preperation, only to forget the whole idea as Menudoth spoke to him. As you will my lovely sapphire. The brown replied solemnly, reaching out to the female even as she reached for him, twining around er and supporting her form with his broad wings. He wasn’t quite sure why she had chosen him, but there would time to wonder about that later.
Zamora had slumped slightly in response to the slump in Bina’s emotions when Menudoth had pushed herself away from Holath and into Fioreth, however her attention quickly returned to F’red as the sapphire broke away. She tipped her head to one side in a gesture of inquiry, was it time to resume the chase? Ah it seemed the chase was over, she thought, pleased, as the sapphire rider instructed the others to leave and, before Zamora could think more than that one thought, scooped her up in his arms. Like her dragon the rider willingly responded to the sapphire’s attentions, twining her form about F’red’s as best she could in the short journey across the room.
