And'l walked into his weyr a bit in the afternoon as he was looking around for the wayward Crystal. Not really knowing where his little white firelizard had gone, but he wanted to find him, becuase the little guy was so tiny that he sometimes worried about the little flit, as though somthing would come along and gopple him up like a treat, but he was sure Leaf would not like that happen, but you never knew. Today had been one of those strange days though as he walked into his weyr and noticed that Hexeth's large bulk was hanging out on her and Tombath's shared legde this morning. He smiled as he thought for a second that somthing just seemed differnt about the Sapphire, but he just couldn't put a finger on what it was. He thought for a moment before dimissing it and going back to looking around.
The dragon herself though could not stop pondering, and it had been somthing that he had been doing alot recently as she looked over at And'l, and though about those words that Tombath had suggested to her so many turns ago. She wondered if that even counted in this case, but in a way she figured that it probably did, at least when it came to her bondeds growth as a dragonrider anyway. Of course the more she thought about it, the more she also realized that it was too much too think about and probably somthing that was better to just be acted on. Besides a good flight, and a good chase would be nice, and thhe thing that she had planned in mind for her bonded would be good for her, but she she wondered if she should warn Tombath... she did worry about things like that. Yet at this point there was no time for that, all there was time to do was to fly...
So she turned back and looked at And'l who was looked at his dragon in a bit of a confused manner and asked softly, "Uh... Hexeth my love, what are you about to do?... Please don't tell me you are about to do what I think you are." And'l didn't hold as much nervousness in his voice this time, becuase he was so confident in Tombath's victory in the flight that he didn't even think about the fact that there would be other people flying and he also had no clue of what his dragon planned on doing that would throw him for a loop this time around. The shappire didn't plan on telling him ethier, becuase she didn't like it when And'l was scared, and it made it that much harder for her to do what she needed to do.
So that was when Hexeth walked out on her legde and was for the second time in her life that she issued her challange to the male's of the weyr and said, Come on Males of the weyr see if you can come and claim your lovely Hexeth, above in the heavens today. The female dragon was a little worried, that her known loyal nature towards Tombath wouldn't drive away any potential suitors. She wanted to have plently to choose form when she was ready to be caught... besides she had to make sure that And'l would end up in the right persons arms. The young sapphire rider was quick to reach the flight room like he was supposed to, but the confidence with which he seemed to lean on the wall almost expressed the fact that he knew the winner, and so he was not as bashful this time to let out a bit of a flirtaous look to each who entered... though as usal, his eyes where always sreaching for his beloved Uu'ian.

Uu’ian was trying to settle to the task of mending leathers, tedious, time consuming, and something that he preferred to take care of himself, but Tombath seemed incredibly twitchy today for some reason and it was beginning to effect his rider as well even though Uu’ian was working in the main living room of his weyr and Tombath was lounging on a comfortable ledge all the way across the weyrbowl. He noticed And’l coming back for some reason and gave a nod of greeting, but his mate seemed to be just as preoccupied as Tombath, in fact everyone seemed to be a bit like that today, none of Uu’ian’s firelizards were present, off on their own business and he couldn’t see that any of And’l’s had followed him.
Shrugging off the unusual feeling to the room Uu’ian turned back to his slowly progressing work, only to look up again as he heard his weyrmate talking to his dragon. Ah. The bronzerider rose and walked across the room to look at Hexeth, yes she certainly was about to do what And’l thought she was if Uu’ian was any judge. A worried look crossed over the bronzerider’s face, unlike And’l the bronzerider’s first thought was for the fickle nature of many female dragons. He did not want anyone else here, in his weyr with his mate. As Hexeth rose and stepped forward Uu’ian suppressed his first reaction, which was to grab And’l and snarl at anyone else who arrived (alright it was partly Tombath’s reaction too). Today he would have to be just one suitor among many, today was Hexeth’s day, and he wouldn’t mind once he was with Tombath. Really.
Across the bowl a bronze dragon stood proudly on the ledge of an empty weyr, and there were still plenty to choose from, even now. One did not crowd a female that close to her Flight, not even his lovely clutchsister. But now it was time to chase her! With a loud roar, part answer to Hexeth’s challenge and part warning to other males, he intended for this female to remain his.
Uu’ian trailed along to the flightroom, not nearly as confident of the result as Tombath.
Elsewhere in the Weyr a bluerider was trying to get a little sleep after returning from a dawn sweep, a venture that was not going all that well, though Keshia had fallen into a doze several times something just kept pulling her back to the waking world no matter how hard she tried to get some sleep.
The roar of some large dragon had Keshia turning over and pulling the furs up around her ears in objection, but a moment later she sat up and looked suspiciously at Fantasmath, only to find that Fantasmath was no longer on the weyrledge. Fantasmath you’d better not be up to what I think you are.
And if I am? Asked the blue, who very clearly was.
It’s Hexeth, you’ll probably lose, and I need my sleep.
Ah Keshia, so little faith in your Fantasmath? Bronzes do not always win, especially when they become complacent.
Keshia sighed and hauled herself out of bed, dressing quickly, no matter how long she spent in the Weyr she’d never be used to casual nudity on anyone’s part, especially not her own. No matter what she said Fantasmath was determined to participate in this Flight, probably because he’d missed so many others recently, well it would all be over soon and maybe she could get some sleep after that, in someone’s bed anyway.
As she wandered down the corridor the bluerider was vaguely amazed by her own thoughts, even a turn ago she’d never have thought anything like that, and the very idea of brazenly wandering into a flightroom would have made her blush and tremble with nerves, now it was just a slight downside of having Fantasmath. Keshia wasn’t entirely sure she liked the change but it didn’t matter right now. She slipped into the room behind Uu’ian and took up her own place against the wall, her attention focused on And’l.
Fantasmath felt no need to make such a challenge as his bronze rival did, though perhaps his presence was a challenge. The blue simply arrived, and waited politely for Hexeth to lead them in that ages old dance.

Bronze Ruxthhadn't chased in a while. His rider preffered for him to chase male dragons with female riders. Ruxth was fed up enough though that when he could tell the sapphire was going to to go up, he decided to chase her. He had to give the upstart young bronze a run for his money didn't he?
J'can, when he realized his dragon planned to fly after a female, aske who the dragon was. Ruxth happily replied, The saphire Hexeth.
And who is the female who rides her? The bronze rider asked of his dagon.
I am sorry, I couldn't wait longer. I NEED to cahse. It is And'l.
A male and a crazy flit collector!? Couldn't you just wait?
I couldn't wait ny longer. Everytime a dragon with a female rider goes up, we seem to be gone, and you don't want me to fly after those with a male rider. Well I don't care this time, I NEED to chase. the dragon's tones were that of a petulant child, and not quite fit for a dragon with 22 turns in him.
Well, enjoy yourself. I plan to enjoy a flight moth. With that the man went to find a flight moth, and the dragon flew to the saphire and proudly announced, I, bronze Ruxth, will chase you oh beautiful saphire.

Z'san and Galantinath had mostly been staying under the radar since the Hatching. Z'san was paranoid by nature and he was always nervous about the attacks. Now that the assassin was gone, he had relaxed a little, but there might still be spies in the Weyr, waiting for the right moment to strike. Z'san wasn't unfriendly to anyone, but they had been keeping to themselves--although that was sometimes hard, with a dragon as unique as Galantinath. Right now they were by the lake, and Z'san was oiling the Emerald's hide. People kept stopping to stare, like always. Z'san smiled at them, but didn't say anything. Galantinath, on the other hand, was preening. He loved being admired.
When Galantinath suddenly stopped striking poses, Z'san knew something was up. The Emerald was intent on something in the sky. Z'san looked up and saw a Sapphire on her ledge, obviously about to rise. Then he remembered that Galantinath was probably old enough to chase now...uh oh.
Thank you for oiling me, Z'san. Now I will look even more handsome for Hexeth, Galantinath said, rumbling with draconic laughter. Now, hurry to And'l's weyr! Without further ado, he leaped into the air. Z'san went to follow his dragon's instructions and find And'l's weyr. This was his first Flight, and he was a little bit at a loss. He was nervous, and the nerves were mixing with the lust his dragon was already starting to feel.
Galantinath hovered near Hexeth's ledge, waiting for her to take off. Hexeth, look at your pretty blue hide and my shiny green hide...wouldn't we look beautiful together? he crooned to her. A Sapphire and an Emerald, it was meant to be! Sure, he was competing against two bronzes, but surely Hexeth would want something different.
Z'san walked into the flight weyr and joined the other suitors. He saw And'l's flirtatious look and blushed a little. The Sapphire rider was cute, but Z'san thought he was taken by someone already. He didn't want to act too forward.

Hexeth's eyes seem to light up as she saw all the sutiors that where now gathering around her. She became very excited about the prospects that this flight held and what she knew that it could do for And'l to help him grow up. Looking around as more male's where starting to show up for her flight, she was a little dissapointed that it was not the grand showing of males that she had received for her first flight, but at least Tombath was there as she always knew that he would be... and even a new face in the emerald who had arrived. There was also Ruxth whom though he was a very handsome bronze she really didn't like him that much, becuase his rider didn't like the playful firelizards. Of course she aslo saw another fimilar face in the blue dragon Fantasmath and knew that she had plenty of choices for what she had planned for her bonded and so she crooned softly to them all in greeting.
She then dived for the pens and blooded one of the creatures, which she knew was odd for a dragon of her size, but it was her flight... and so she wanted the extra energy that it would give her. After blooding the beast she flew up into the sky and said, Now males of the weyr, let's see which one of you is able to cacth me. Of course before lauching herself away she did somthing that was costumary for her to do, which was to greet each of the male's personally... and so she flew by each of them and nuzzling there hides soft. Crooning softly her happiness that they had come out here on this most lovely of days to chase the most lovely and beatiful of sapphires. The time was right, but still she would not tell And'l her plan... he would not know until the very last moment. She just hoped that Tombath, and Uu'ian would forgive her.
And'l was standing there in the flight room as he wacthed through Hexeth's eyes those who where showing up in the flight room... and also the dragons who where there. He realized that Ruxths rider was missing which was probably for the best, but still he did see that it might be a little rude, and he knew that the rider was probably skipping out just becuase he liked flits. Yet he was certianly gald to see Uu'ian as his weyrmate soon arrived and the young man gave the bronzerider a little wink whenever he came into the room. He was obviously not nervous and even wanted to walk over and take hold of the male that he felt would obviously win, but... he couldn't do that now... no the winner had not been deicded. So he stood there with that soft and cute smile on his face... he even looked over at Kisha with it, and just softly smile at her and blushed heavily. She was always a nice sight to see, of course all he could really see was Fantasmath. He then also looked over at the Emerald rider Z'san, and softly smiled at the other male and in his normal nervous manner around new people he waved hi to the other male... with that cute and blushing smile on his face.

Although he challenged them, Tombath was glad to see such a good turnout, Hexeth deserved it, even though she was obviously his. It seemed that while he didn’t have the stereotypical arrogance of his colour in most things, Tombath saved it all up for Flights in general, and Hexeth’s flights in particular.
Hexeth fell to feeding grounds to select and blood a herdbeast, and while she was about that Tombath took the time to study his rivals. Fantasmath seemed to be the only previous contender there. Ruxth was a serious threat, a fairly attractive beast, though obviously not as handsome as Tombath himself, but older, and presumably more experienced. Galantinath was an unknown factor, and therefore also a threat. However before the bronze could do more than identify and consider each of the other males briefly Hexeth returned and the glowing sapphire instantly had his full attention.
The bronze returned Hexeth’s croon with a deeper one of his own and wriggled midair as she touched him in passing. Would she forgive him if he twined with her now? Probably not, the bronze regretfully concluded, but Hexeth was worth waiting for.
Uu’ian’s face lit with a soft smile as he caught the flirtatious wink his mate had given him. He might not be feeling quite as confident as Tombath but he decided to take the gesture as a good sign, besides, like Tombath, Uu’ian felt Hexeth might never forgive him if he messed up her Flight for her.
Fantasmath kept his attention solely on Hexeth as she blooded, only noting the competition when they moved into his view. She was perhaps the largest of sapphires and more solidly muscled than most, both things the blue admired about his clutchsister, and like her bonded the sapphire dragon seemed to have grown out of a great deal of her shyness.
Fantasmath used no words, and only the lightest mental touch to assure Hexeth that he would pursue her to the uttermost of his ability. The blue accepted the soft caress to his hide with a similar wordlessness, though a flare of dark, intense purple through the predominant violet shades of his eyes showed that Fantasmath appreciated the attention.
Keshia did as Fantasmath did not and surveyed her competition. Tombath would be her bet for the winner, though nothing was certain in dragon Flights, and even if Hexeth chose differently maybe And’l wouldn’t. Ruxth’s rider didn’t seem to be around, but that wasn’t much of a surprise, the man was well known to dislike both firelizards and sleeping with men. Z’san, of the tree emerald (or so the dragon named himself) Galantinath, was someone she didn’t know. Pleasant enough she supposed, maybe someone she could satisfy herself with after this even if he wasn’t her preferred gender. No use in guessing over a female dragon’s choices though. Then Hexeth was in the air, and Fantasmath was in her mind.

Galantinath watched the other males, sizing them up. The bronzes would be a lot of competition, and the other blue was similar to him in size and agility. Whatever. It was his first chase, and he was just going to try his best and have fun. He turned his gaze back to Hexeth, his eyes swirling with violet as he did so. He had never seen a more beautiful female before.
He launched himself into the air, bugling as he followed after her. He zipped along in the air, showing off his speed. When she brushed past him, he felt a jolt of exhilaration. The single touch just made him want more.
Z'san had never experienced such closeness with his dragon before. He felt like he was up in the sky, flying. There was the wind over his wings and he could feel Hexeth's touch. It sent a shiver down his spine. He blinked and tried to focus on the people around him, but that was hard. All he knew was that he wanted And'l the same way Galantinath wanted Hexeth. Z'san was generally guileless when it came to romance and desire, but right now he knew these emotions were going to have to be let out somehow.

RUxth watched as the little blue saphire dragon blooded. She might need to blood, but he never needed to blood to keep up with such a little female. The little female called a challenge out, and he remained silent. He saw no reason to reply. He simply would bide his time and then show the female that he was the strongest.
She came and nuzzled him, and he was so tempte to take her then to teach her a lesson, but that would ruin the fun, so he let the Hexeth get away. She would soon be his anyway.
Mean while, J'can chose himself a shy little flirt to take to his room. The woman giggled and laughed at nothing on the way, and she slightly bothered him, but needs were needs. He could tell that he made her nervous, but he didn't care. He showed her into his room, and closed the door to the world.

And'l smiled softly when he realized that he had been able to calm down his mate a little bit by the smiles that he had put on the other males face. He knew the way that the other thought, and the fact that his weyrmate didn't have has much faith in the fact that Tombath would win every flight becuase of the fickle nature of some females... but the young man knew his Hexeth better than that. She would always do what she needed to, in order to take good care of him. His lovely dragon had always done that for him, and he knew that there was one thing that he would never ever do to him. That was to be able to make him end up in bed with any other person that his beloved Uu'ian. Yet soon he found such thoughts about exactlly who he wanted, as he became closer with Hexeth. He knew that he had to trust his dragon... that was all he could do.
Hexeth though was finding it harder to keep what she had in mind more and more seperate form her bonded. She didn't want him to panic and to do somthing that could ruin the entire flight. The Sapphire knew how somthing like that might end up hurting them both if it happened, and she knew how And'l felt about flights, so waiting until the end where he would not be able to do anything about it would be the best thing. She could always make it up to her rider later... and she was sure that Uu'ian would comfornt him, and it would not cause anything to happen to her bondeds relationship. Him and his weyrmate where too close for that to happen. Plus she was quite sure that Tombath would forgive her also, sinice she was his favorite little sahppire after all, and has always been sinice they where young.
Yet at that moment she decided that instead it was time to fly and not really worry about any of that...The sapphire after nuzzling the males took off, heading towards the ocean. The place that had a good meaning to the sapphire, though only she and her bonded knew why she would want to lead the males in this direction as she crooned to them, and teased them. Yes... above the ocean would be a place of many first. Once above the ocean the female dragon swooped down and let her wing tip against the water, as she dared the males to follow her path. The blue spiraled into the sky, though when she felt a male getting to close the shappire would just barrel roll to the side, and though she continued with her tricky maneuvers she was still planning on saving some of her energy for the moment when she chose. She was not going to let some unworthy male to steal the prize of the one that she chose. Whoever won was the one that deserved it and they would be the one to get it. So with that thought in mind she headed up into the clouds to try and dare the males to chase her up somewhere she could challege them.

Tombath soared after his sapphire, doing his best to keep on her tail, though his size didn’t make that easy for him, the bronze’s bulk and his broad wings in comparison to Hexeth’s made his turns wider, his movements just a little less elegant than hers. He took comfort though in knowing that Ruxth would be suffering from similar problems.
There was an advantage for Tombath in having Hexeth take her Flight out over open water though; here he was sure he could outfly her. Taking his flightpath downward in a steep curve after Hexeth the bronze dropped toward the waves, then arched suddenly upwards in a wing wrenching twist, well pleased that no more than the spray from the waves had touched his hide, and that only served to enhance his wonderful gold and red highlights of course.
Uu’ian’s mouth twitched up into a satisfied smile in response to Tombath’s feats of agility, in a very real way, though he was stood still in a flight room and Tombath was in the air some distance away, they were one. So Uu’ian looked upon And’l with the same possessive pride that Tombath looked at Hexeth with.
Fantasmath pushed himself to a good speed to follow where Hexeth led. He recalled, or rather Keshia recalled for him, that she’d taken her first flight out over the ocean too. Fantasmath dropped down to skim over the surface of the water, letting his talons trail in the waves for a few moments before he pulled up away from the water and back toward the sky where he belonged. There the blue made a game of trying to get close enough to touch Hexeth, not for an attempt at capturing her, but just to tag her, for the fun of it, to prove he could.
The problem was that he couldn’t, no matter how he approached, no matter what technique he employed, at the last moment Hexeth rolled away from him. Fantasmath admired that, even though it was dreadfully frustrating. With a trill of admiration for her flying the blue followed Hexeth up into the clouds.
Keshia barely moved from her position leaning against the wall, she actually found things more comfortable if she wasn’t near the female dragon’s counterpart during a Flight, though that was probably partly a holdover from her holdbred upbringing and partly to do with Fantasmath invariably picking females with male riders to chase.

Ruxth followed her, but made no special moves. He planned to wait it out and take her at the end when all of the smaller dragons were too tired from showing off. He, Ruxth, knew that his large body simply couldn't do smaall manuevers, but that didn't man he wouldn't win. He would win because the sapphire would know he was the strongest. He felt sure of himself.
When the sapphire rolled or turned quickly, he simply swooped slowly around, and caught up easily with strokes from his large wings. He proved his largness simply by being able to keep up even after he couldn't make the hard turns.
When the sapphire went higher, he followed knowing that she came close to the end of her flight. Soon she would need a strong male to catch her.

Galantinath sped after Hexeth. The small Emerald was fast, even if he wouldn't be able to keep it up for too long. He liked flying over the ocean, with all of the different air currents. He felt out the air and caught a thermal, using it to rise higher. He crooned his admiration when she deftly avoided them with a barrel roll. Galantinath decided to try some moves of his own, and flew in a zigzag formation.
As Hexeth flew higher into the air, Galantinath diligently followed. On the ground, Z'san watched And'l intently when the other boy spoke. He didn't really know what was going on; his mind was too clouded by lust. He had no idea a Flight was going to be this intense.

As Hexeth speed through the air she could feel her wings burning and knew that it was getting close to that time to choose. So she looked back over her choices and quickly took Tombath out of the running. She cared for bronze, and would normally choose him everytime, but this time she had somthing planned for her bonded and so she had to choose someone else. So again she looked at the possiable candidates and also took out the other broze Ruxth, becuase she really didn't like his rider at all, he was the one who didn't like firelizards... and well she could stand the idea of having her bonded so close to anyone who didn't enjoy the company of the little ones. Then there was little Emerald...
She wasn't exactlly sure about him, becuase she didn't know anything about his rider, and this situation she knew was quite a delicate one, so an unknown like that probably wasn't the best choice. Which left only Fantasmath, and she knew his rider very well, even though she was female and Hexeth was quite sure that And'l wouldn't be too happy with that... she was sure he would get over and maybe be a better person form it. Yet before she made her choice she made time to praise each of the dragons who had chased her on being so good, and having come out to chase her in the first place. It made her happy that she was considered such a wonderful prize in that she had so many suitors. Yet she also had somthing else she need to do, and she softly asked Tombath...
Please promise me I will always be your favorite Shappire... Please Tombath promise you and yours will never leave me and mine. She knew better than to ask about Uu'ian, becuase there was no way the bronzerider and shappirerider would abandon each other over somthing as simple as a flight... they had already talked it over and so it was not somthing ethier of them worried about. Yet dragons where a differnt thing and so she felt that she had to asked her weyrmate... and once she had her answer was when she finally began to make her move as she slowly moved backwards towards Tombath just so that she could softly nuzzle him for a moment to give the bronze comfornt, sinice he proably knew what was going to happen. Then she moved over and said softly to Fantasmath, I am yours... you have won this flight today handsome Fantasmath
In the flight room And'l's soft smile and happy expression went form one that held a sense of excitment and joy about what he knew would be the flights end, to that of a look of confusion and fear. As for a moment he yelled in his Hexeth what have you done? Yet he didn't resist becuase he didn't want to hurt the dragon whom he loved so dearly and who up until now had been the one who helped to make his life as prefect as is was today... no the shappirerider didn't step foward though to be claimed as Keshia's prize today... he just stood where he was cowering in that spot... if she wanted him... she would have to come and get him.

Tombath could feel, instinctively, the end of the Flight approaching and that only served to bolster his confidence. Of course she would choose him! How could she not? He was handsome, strong, and clever (and vain, over confident, and self obsessed besides but he tried not to dwell on those traits).
So when he heard what Hexeth had to say to him the bronze could only project startled disbelief for a moment. She- she wasn’t choosing him? Even in mid air the large dragon’s posture drooped sadly, but nevertheless he wordlessly touched his weyrmate’s mind with the soft assurance that she would always be his favorite. He crooned softly at the touch of the sapphire dragon’s muzzle against his hide, then turned as tightly as his large form could manage. Maybe it was just the effect of his rider being so closely bonded with him at this time, but Tombath really didn’t want to see this.
Within the walls Uu’ian’s face and posture expressed the same disbelief as his dragon’s, a slightly accusing look in his eyes as he gazed upon the sapphire’s counterpart. What was going on here?
Fantasmath twisted in the air in a slightly showy move, having given up on trying to tag Hexeth, it just wasn’t working out and now he was running out of time in which to impress her. The blue did dip his wings once when Hexeth praised her chasers; his shy sister was always kind, and always fair.
When Hexeth moved in close to Tombath the blue couldn’t say he was really surprised, but something kept him from turning away, was that disappointment in Tombath’s posture? Fantasmath really felt quite confused by the way things were going, especially after the sapphire pulled away. However the blue was quick to change his mind about being confused when Hexeth spoke to him. The royal blue dragon moved in swiftly to take the sapphire in his embrace, as he did Fantasmath spared a final thought for his rider. See KeshiaMine? Bronzes do not always win.
Keshia Shook her head, not quite believing what she was hear, both from Hexeth, who she heard through her bond to Fantasmath, and from the blue himself. She looked with shock, first at Uu’ian, who turned pale and bolted out the room, then at And’l. The sapphirerider became Hexeth as she looked at him, and as Fantasmath claimed the young man’s counterpart in the air Keshia could no longer see anything wrong with claiming the sapphire for herself.
Purposely that bluerider stalked across the room and layed a hand flat on the sapphirerider’s chest in a clear claim before she used that hand to push him backwards, over to the bed, and with a little more force, into it. No, bronzes did not always win.
