She could get out of it, Aphrodie thought, by going to the Hold. The question on her mind was did she want to?
She'd come to Allride right after a Hatching to find herself asked to Stand for the next clutch.
Make that voluntelled.
She had never considered herself rider material, and still didn't. Were they really sure she was even sensitive enough?
Doubts ran around and around in the sixteen year old's mind. "What the heck do I do?" she asked.
It was, of course, a rhetorical question.

Bamre and Purth had walked by the canididate Barracks when he heard someone inside say somthing. Both Emerald and Iron took off form there various pruchs on Bamre and flew inside. Bamre quickly followed them to try and cacth them. Then he saw a girl sitting in there. He figured she must be canididate for the next clucth. Iron had landed on her shoulders and was now rubbing his head angist her cheek. Emerald was sitting in her lap chripping up at her. Bamre entered and sat across form her and said to her " Hello my name is Bamre. What is yours?" Purth then looked at the girl and said My name is Purth. While Dimond who was on Bamre's shoulders chriped a greeting at her.

Aphrodie blinked. "Aphrodie...that's..." She just stared at Purth, even more so when he said hi. "Faranth, you're beautiful!" she told the white.
If she Impressed, she was expecting a green. Maybe a blue...maybe. But that white was absolutely beautiful from head to tailtip!

Bamre just smiled and Purth let a rumble of lughter escape his throat. Bamre was not suprised it seemed alot of pepole always had a suprised reaction to his little white. Purth repiled to Aphrodie Why thank you Aphrodie. You look beautiful too. Bamre just looked at Aphrodie and could tell somthing had ben wrong. He said " Aphrodie is somthing worng?" Purth said to her Don't worry Aphrodie you can tell us. Me and Mine are good lisitiners and we can help.

Aphrodie smiled. "I'm trying to decide whether I really should be a candidate," she explained, and cautiously reached a hand out to the young white.
She wanted to touch him. She couldn't resist it, a temptation that flowed through her.

Purth seeing that the girl wanted to touch him, but was unsure moved forward and touched her hand with the top of his head. He then said to her It's ok I don't mind if you touch me. Just please scratch me between my eye ridges. It's my favorite spot. Bamre looked at and said "You should do it. It is worth it I promise you. Especially if one of the dragons choses you. When Purth impressed me and I rescued him. It was the greatest feeling in the world and I could easily say that it was the happiest moment of my life." Purth then said to Bamre as he bent his head over and nuzzled Bamre It was the happiest moment of my life too Mine Purth then moved his head back so that it was touching Aphrodie's hand.

Aphrodie laughed. "Hedonist," she told the dragon, reaching to scratch him. "And true, but how do I know I have what it takes? And I didn't exactly come here for this, there's just...so much pressure."
She could understand the desperation, though.

Purth looked up at Aphrodie has she scrathed his head and said I think you have what it takes Aphrodie. Beside you are doing pretty good now. He said this to her compleminting her scracthing her head. Bamre siad to her " You may not have came here to do it, but trust me if you do it you will be gald you did. Beside I think that you could do. Purth seems to like you." All of Bamre's fair including the two sitting on Aphrodie chriped at her as though in aggrement to what there pet had said.

Aphrodie laughed. "How old are you, Purth?" The one other white had been much smaller than a normal dragon, she recalled. This certainly seemed to be small for a dragon.
She wouldn't exactly want a -big- dragon herself. More work, surely.

Purth thought about this and said I was hacthed at the last hacthing silly. Bamre smiled at her and repiled " He is still a very young dragon."

Aphrodie grinned. "Yeah, but I wasn't sure when that was. I can tell he's young...he's so small." She regarded Purth for a moment.
"Of course, he'll grow out of that."

Bamre just smiled and said " Yeah, but I am gald he is small. I have always liked smaller dragons and in the end I ended up with the smallest and the smartest." Purth walked over and laid his head in his bonded's lap and Bamre reached down and hugged Purths head to his chest. Bamre firelizards Iron and Emerald flew off of Aphrodie and landed on Bamre.

Aphrodie smiled. "I don't know what color I'd prefer. Especially as for all we know the next clutch will have more new colors in it."
Maybe a male green, if there were female browns and blues. Maybe.

As Aphrodie said this Bamre got a really funny image and said " Yeah new colors. I remember the female brown and blue. Now all we will need is a female bronze and that would be quite funny."

Aphrodie thought about that. "I don't think we really do need one. I'd bet more on a male green."
A pause. "I mean, female brown and copper riders can lead wings. We don't -need- a bronze equivalent. And who knows about that black..."
