Klah. Keila needed klah. It was a morning ritual, one that she was not willing to break for any reason. Morning was not exactly Keila’s favorite hour of the day, but it was not her least favorite either. She really disliked mid-afternoon; it was such an odd time of the day, and there never seemed to be anything to do then. She shuffled through the line and got her klah and a couple of pieces of fruit before finding a table to sit at. She was alone at her table without even Sniff to keep her company, whatever poor company that would have been. Her flit was still asleep in her weyr along with not-a-morning-person dragon. It was amazing that she had been Chosen by such lazy creatures.
She took a deep breath and savored the flavor of her klah. It was strong and black, just the way she liked it. She sipped at it gingerly and looked over the rim of the cup at the other people in the dining hall. It was early morning, the sun had barely risen, so the hall was not filled to capacity yet. She settled into a routine of people watching.

Bamre wacthed into the dining hall with Purth following him. He had eaten hours ago becuase he was the type that got up very early. Though it one looked at Bamre now he would look like he was wearing flits. Diamond was on his shoulders. Shapphire clung to his head. Emerald and Ruby were clinging to the front of his shirt and Iron to his back. It did not bother Bamre becuase he had had these cloths made for the prepose of given flit a good handhold without hurting him. He walked up to a table were a girl he did not reconize was sitting. Bamre sat down next to her and crossed his legs in the seat. Purth curled up close behind his rider and Bamre then rested his eblows on the table and he held his chin in his hands.

Keila noticed the walking firelizard refuge the moment he walked through the door. Her eyebrows shot up on her forehead, and she stared without shame. She had never seen someone with that many firelizards before. Two or three were usually the max, but this boy…she wasn’t even sure how many he had. Not to mention the extremely intriguing dragon trailing along behind him. She let her eyes linger over the pure white hide that reminded her of the snow of her old home. People-watching had paid off for once. She smiled as the boy, his dragon, and his horde of firelizards walked up to her table and made themselves at home. He was already incredibly interesting, and he made her morning that much more tolerable. “Well, good morning,” she said, smiling at him, “Did you leave the other flits at home or is this it?”

Bamre looked at her and smiled and siad " No this is it. For now at least. I am hoping to get a bronze if I can soon to get the last of the five main colors." Emerald then aligned herself on the girls shoulders and chriped at her and Bamre siad " That is Emerald." He then pointed at the firelizards and siad " This is Shapphire. This is Ruby. This is Iron." He then pointed at the gold and siad " This right here though is the leader of the pack my dear Diamond." The gold then chriped her greeting quite proudly. Bamre smiled and siad " My name is Bamre." Purth greeted the girl saying My name is Purth. It is so nice to meet you. Bamre laughed abit because he had seen her staring him which some people did becuase he the way he let his fair cling to him the way that they did. He then siad " So what is your name."

Keila scratched Emerald’s head lightly as the little girl settled on her shoulders. What a friendly flit! Sniff would never have done something like that. Most likely he would have stared at a stranger until they were utterly weirded out by his gloomy disposition. Emerald seemed like a vibrant little flit. Keila tried to memorize the flits’ names as he rattled them off. There were five of them, and for the most part, their names went along with their colors, or so it seemed to her. She smiled at each of them in turn and grinned at the gold’s pride. Almost all golds were prideful. She nodded her head to the pretty white dragon who had introduced himself. "It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Purth." She grinned at Bamre. “I’m Keila. I just transferred here a while back,” she said. She petted Emerald’s head and motioned to the group of flits, “So, how exactly did you go about amassing that horde?”

Bamre smiled at her as she asked him this question and siad " Well the oldest of the bunch is Iron he is 3 turns old and I impressed him back in the cothold I lived at before I came here. Then a about a sevenday before the hacthing where I impressed Purth there was a flit hacthing in which I impressed Diamond and Emerald. Then recently there was a green clucth that hacthed and that was were I impressed Ruby and Shapphire. I guess I have just always enjoyed having alot of flits as company that is why I have so many and plan to get more." He looked at her as he said this and he was rubbing Diamonds head.

“Hmm,” Keila said, her eyes roving over his treasure trove of flits, “I suppose flits could be better company than people, sometimes.” She took a sip of her quickly cooling klah before picking up a piece of fruit. “I wouldn’t know what to do with so many of them and having a hatchling at the same time.” She toyed with the piece of fruit, tossing it from hand to hand before putting it back down. “I have a flit too, a blue named Sniff. He’s a bugger and demands attention.” Possibly reading her mind, the blue flit winged into the dining, heading straight for her. He sat down on the table, blinked slowly at Bamre, and looked back at Keila expectantly. Sighing, she motioned toward him with one hand. “Bamre, meet Sniff, my thorn in the side,” she said, but there was an affectionate twist to her smile. She really did like the flit, even if he was a pain most of the time. Sniff gave her a suffering look and plopped down on the table as if his back legs had given out. She rolled the fruit to him, and he shoved his face into it, not even caring that it was not meat.

Bamre then smiled at the little melancholy creature and reached out and picked him up and figured he would not get biten. He was used to so he did not care. He then held the blue in his hand hoping that it would wrap it's tail around his arm so that it would not fall. He smiled at it and siad as he reached out and began to pet it" Hello Sniff. So my little friend you like to pout do yea." He then laughed abit and siad to the blue " Well don't worry if that is the way you like to be then that is the way you act my freind. No sinice changing the way you were when you were born." Bamre was showing his true nature now. He had forgot about Kaila and Purth said to her Please excuse Mine. He does this when he meets new flits or dragons somtimes. He perfers the company of flits and dragons so therefore he seems to put a priotry on talking to them frist sometimes. Yet he is not trying to be rude. You just have to gently remind him that you are there. Please don't be anrgy. The white was only saying this to her becuase she was a new person who did not know his bonded and his strange habits and he was worried she would be mad.

Keila started to warn Bamre about Sniff’s stand-offish nature, but the boy had already picked up the flit. The flit squawked uncertainly and looked around, extremely confused. No one but Keila ever picked him up; he did not allow it. Keila sent Sniff a series of calming, warm mind thoughts and hoped that Bamre did have some magical way with flits. He seemed to have enough of them to know. Besides, if Sniff took a bite out of him, that would teach him to pick up random flits. Sniff peered at Bamre with bored swirling, multicolored eyes. As if giving a physical exasperated sigh, he settled down on the boy’s arm and wrapped his trail around his arm. Keila huffed, one eyebrow raising. Leave it to Sniff to be too depressed to even protest someone picking him up. Keila smiled down at the polite white dragon. “It’s all right, Purth, I don’t mind. It takes all kinds to make a weyr.” She had met people odder than Bamre before, but he certainly was a character. “You know,” she said to Bamre, “He really does like being handfed. If you like, you could feed him. That’s the best way to get him to like you.” She glanced at Emerald, who was still perched on her shoulder. She reached over and scratched the little green’s head again, knowing Sniff would not be jealous. He did not have many emotions besides sad, gloomy, and depressed.

Bamre smiled and siad " I suspected he would not bite me. Though that is a risk I was willing to take." He then pulled out some food and Bamre's two baby flit's almost rushed for it and Daimond chriped strenly and then they stoped moving and went back to there purchs. Bamre held the food up to the little blue that was pruched on his arm. He really only wanted the creature to like him. He was not trying to cheer it up knowing there was no way that would ever happen. Bamre looked at Keila and siad to her " So why don't you tell me abit about yourself."

“Well, you’re braver than most,” said Keila. Sniff blinked at Bamre and then glanced over at Keila as if asking for permission. She waved a hand at him, and he gingerly stretched his neck out and plucked the food from Bamre’s hand. With sloppy chomps, he devoured the piece of food and settled down on Bamre’s arm. It was as good a perch as any and the boy had given him food…perhaps other pets were not so bad. At least not this one. Keila smiled at the boy’s blunt question. It was nice to meet someone that did not beat around the bush. “Hmm, I’m from the far north, the Telgar weyr community hold. I transferred down here a few weeks ago, so I’m pretty new. I’m a green rider to Dirrith, who’s about seven turns old.” Keila smiled and took a bite out of a fruit. “I’m really not all that interesting.”

Bamre then looked at her cuoriusly. He was excited at the pospect of meeting a new dragon that he did not know. It was just his nature to put prioity for dragons and flits over people. He then smiled and siad to her " I would really like to meet Dirrith. If it is ok with you that is." He then looked at the little blue that had taken the food form him and smiled at it becuase the flit seemed much friendly toward him now and this made him happy. He then looked back at Keila to wait for the answer to his question.

“Um, sure,” Keila said, “She should be awake by now.” She reached out with her mind and brushed against Dirrith’s. The green was still asleep but the beginnings of awareness were starting to stir in her. Keila helped her along by speaking to her mind. Hello, wonderful, she said, joy bubbling up inside her as it always did when she was talking to her dragon, The sun’s up, and you should be too. It’s too early, complained Dirrith. She sent a wave of sleepy thoughts to Keila who had to nearly barricade herself against them. Keila replied with a series of images of sunshine and brilliancy. No, Dirrith, wake up, she said more forcefully, Someone wants to meet you. I’ll meet them later, when I’m awake. No, you’ll meet them now, please… Fine, fine, fine, I’m up. Once she was sure that Dirrith was stretching her wings and greeting the morning, Keila turned back to Bamre and smiled, “Yeah, she’ll be happy to meet you. She’ll be down in the bowl in a few minutes.”

Bamre then smiled and stood up and siad to her " Why then don't we go there." He was again in his usal mood of caring more for the dragon than for the rider. Though he was not doing it out of meanness. It was more out of habit than anything. Purth aslo sat up and stood by Bamre. Bamre then looked at her and siad to " So would you like to go to the bowl or would you perfer to just stay here." He looked at her with a soft yet courious smile on his face becuase he wanted to meet Dirrith.

Keila could tell that Bamre was itching to meet the green so she stood up as well. She picked up the remaining piece of fruit and put them in her pocket. Sniff made the decision to switch perches now that the boy had no more food. He lifted off and winged over to Keila, landing on the shoulder that was not occupied by Emerald. He squawked at the green and glared at her until she vacated Keila’s shoulder and flew back to Bamre. “Let’s go then,” she said. She walked out of the dining hall, watching as people turned to stare at Bamre and his crowd of flits and his unnerving white dragon. She frowned at the particularly obvious ones and most of them ducked their heads or pretended to be absorbed in something beyond the white rider. Served them right for staring so obnoxiously. Keila led the way out of the dining hall and to the bowl. Dirrith was landing just as they stepped into the bright sunlight. "There she is," Keila said with overflowing pride. She loved the way Dirrith's scales shimmered in the sunlight. Dirrith turned her head toward Keila and Bamre. Morning, mine. You could've let me sleep longer, she said in private to Keila. That doesn't do anyone any good, said Keila. She motioned to Bamre, "Dirrith, this is Bamre and Purth." Dirrith nodded her head at the weyrling. Well met, younglings, she said to the two of them.
