Andol just sighed. " I hate politic's. I wish people would just get over themselves and treat everyone the same. I mean I know that the thought of that happening is just a dream. Yet it is the way it should be. That is why I perfer the dragon's and flit's over people. Becuase most of the time they are more fair." Andol knew that was not always the case though most of the time it was.

Aphrodie considered that. "They don't, though, not really. They defer to the queens."
Ocean had settled to her shoulder. She gave the aqua queen a scritch and smiled at her. "And they do have their ranking. It's the way things are. It's more that they don't argue about it."

Andol just shook his head in agreement. " I understand that. It just seems dragon's are alot nicer about it than people. Actully they are alot nicer than people in general." He then added qucikly " Not that you are not a nice person Aphrodie. I just find that firelizards and dragons to be better company." He just sighed as he cuddled Leaf close to himself. The green flit chriped at him and rubbed her head angist his chest. He then looked at her and siad " It's just the murder of my brother's frist firelizard Steel was hard on us both and it is very hard for me to trust people that is all."

Aphrodie blinked. "What kind of loser kills a firelizard?"
They might not be -dragons-, but they were still supposed to be honored and respected as kin to the great beasts that protected Pern from Thread. And Aphrodie would cheerfully kick the butt of anyone who harmed Ocean or Shimi. "I hope somebody kicked his butt halfway to Between."
That was milder than she really wanted to say. She even had her hands curled into fists...although she did not realize she was doing so.

Andol just shook his head and siad " No they didn't. What happened is worse. My brother blamed himself for what happen and hurt himself many times over. It was only his impression to his firelizard Iron that finally got him to stop. You have to understand beside that little blue flit he had no one else. Plus the fact the little guy died to protect him form some bullies. They diecded to kill his firelizard to be really mean. My brother has many self inflecented cuts on his arm. I believe that is why he has so many flit is becuase he is trying to fill a void. Though from what I can see Purth has done a good job of doing that. Please don't go talk to him about it. I don't him to remember those mermoies if he has been able to supress them." Andol was cheered up by the fact that his brother seemed so much happier here. That itself had been his own reason to start trusting people around here. Though he still did so very carefully.

Aphrodie shook her head. "He should have hurt them, not himself. I know if anyone touched Ocean...I might kill them," she admitted.
She might even get away with it. "Of course, I think Purth would scare the living daylights out of anyone who bothered Bamre or his fair now." Purth was a small dragon. To people who didn't know dragons, he was still huge.

He luaghed alittle a Aphrodie's next comment and siad " Yeah plus the fact that you mess with one firelizard. You mess with the whole fair. So I think Diamond would have somthing to say about it too."

Ocean might, but Ocean was quite a bit smaller than her dam, if every bit as...queenly...at times. "But with the number he has...well... I don't even worry about somebody messing with mine, although the weyrbrats do like to tease them."
She'd caught one kid the other day deliberately waving food in front of Shimi and then hiding it. That was just not fair.

Andol just shook his head. " Yeah you are right about that." He then thought for a sec. " Though I have not had anyone tease Leaf becuase I keep her so close. I think it is the same with my brother. Though I will say. I feel for the person he cacthes teaseing his firelizards. I mean I know teaseing does not hurt them, but I think he get mad when someone does not treat them with respect. You know."

Aphrodie nodded. "Yeah. On the other hand, I've also caught weyrbrats trying to seduce Ocean with food." She flickers a grin. "I should tell them all when I have a clutch. Let them get their own."
Some of the kids she'd caught doing that were too young, but others were old enough to be able to take care of a pet. If they were going to keep doing that, then they should have their own to 'play' with.

Andol just smiled. "Yeah I don't see anything wrong with trying to suduce a firelizard with food. Somtimes that is the only way that you are ever able to teach them anything. Though I get the felling Leaf will fly soon so maybe some of them can have her eggs. Yet I guess we will just have to see how many she lays. Though it will problery not be very many. I am not worried about her hiding them from me. She will problery lay them right under my bed or somwhere I can find them."

Aphrodie grinned. "Maybe she'll lay them -in- your bed. Given how clingy she is, she'll probably try to make you look after them for her." She considered. "I may give that hatching a miss. Though I doubt that she will make me wacth over them becuase she has a real good motherly instcet about her so I think that she will take care of them and ask me to help her look after them." Andol did not really care where she laid them or if she asked him to help him. He would love to help her becuase it would be her first clucth and he wanted everything to go right.

Ocean might, too, especially i they rose close together. She was quite protective of her smaller sister, and definitely affectionate towards her.
They were both so pretty.

Andol just smiled. " Yeah most greens are like that. I have always known that Leaf is not a typical green personalitty wise. She is way to quite. Doesn't play much at least with other firelizards that is. She aslo is very motherly, but mostly so for that has always been toward me. Wethier she will be that way towards her eggs remains to be seen though I believe that she will."
