C'lyn grinned a bit. "I don't quite see her with a male dragon. But I could be wrong. And I hear there was only ever one white..."
That didn't mean there couldn't be another...

"You got me there. I couldn't ever see Tirlynna with a male dragon. And your probably correct about the white. Probably just Malaracyth's fettering because this is her first clutch," Kelyna said, turning her head slightly to look at Malaracyth and then turning back.
Malaracyth just grumbled and continued watching her eggs.

C'lyn chuckled. "I think she may have taken that wrong."
Kilith, who had remained silent, finally ventured his opinion, There is something odd about them. But I don't think it's a bad odd.

Malaracyth jumped on that. To Kilith, Kelyna, and C'lyn she shouted with her mind, See, they are odd and special in a way. I don't think that any of them are normal eggs. I can also promise you that they are not duds. I would know if they were duds. I tell you, They are strange eggs! Malaracyth's eyes were swirling very fast. She was glad that Kilith had stood up for her decision on the eggs. Nomatter what they said. They didn't know the eggs the way she did.

C'lyn sighed at his dragon. "And just when we got her to shut up," he said, wryly, although he was clearly not really annoyed.

Malaracyth quickly shutup with that comment and grumbled to herself. "I think that got her to shut up though," Kelyna said with a smile to C'lyn.

C'lyn grinned. "Just don't encourage her any more, you great big bronze rascal."
Kilith just rumbled amusement at his rider.

"Why would Kilith do that? He's perfectly innocent, isin't he?" Kelyna said with a pointed glance at Kilith.
Luckily, Malaracyth kept shut up this time.

C'lyn grinned. "Every bit as innocent as the two turn old who did not steal that bubbly...no, no...no clue where the juice on his chin came from."

Kelyna laughed. It felt good to be standing here, not doing anything. Most of the time she was still doing paperwork for the weyr. Most people outside of the weyr thought that it was a dragonriding cothold, what a surprise it would be when they found out it was a weyr. "That reminds me, have you found any peopel out there that would be willing to be holders at the hold?" Kelyna asked, getting onto a more serious note. Life couldn't be all fun and games, work was always needing to be done. Kelyna didn't move from C'lyn side though, just stayed there, watching the eggs.

C'lyn considered. "Nibbles, but no bites. I'm looking amongst younger sons of old blood, with no chance of inheriting anything...there's still a lot of space in the south, though. Pern may fill up one day, but it's not there yet."

"The boys and girls that always knew they wouldn't inherit are normaly either ready to jump the gun and start a hold or they want nothing to do with holds. Maybe you could find someone of dragonrider blood that is too old to be a candidate yet young enough to be a holder. The oldest dragonrider bloodlines have old hold blood in them," Kelyna said thoguhtfully, thinking of other places C'lyn could look.

C'lyn nodded. "Yeah. But I'm going to keep poking around...because some of them might make good candidates, too, and we're going to need those with two golds," he pointed out, sensibly.
"But you have a point, definitely. We need crafters, too."

"I know F'mar has been forcing all the crafters that come that are perfect candidate age to be a candidate. I don't know how that is working out, but it means that we have both crafter and rider. If they impress though, we will have to ask for a new crafter. A weyr can't run with only dragonriders," Kelyna said thoughtfully.

C'lyn frowned. "I don't know that I agree with *forcing* anyone to Stand, especially with Thread coming back. I know we really need at least thirty candidates, but are we *that* short on volunteers?"
He might have to have a word with F'mar. This felt very distasteful to him...and risked having riders unwilling to do what they needed to do.
