C'lyn nodded. "Exactly. We just have to be a little careful who we accept. Don't need any spies, like you said."

"No spies,"Kelyna said with a laugh. She smiled and said, "I wish I didn't have those eggs to worry about. I feel like an ominous event hangs over my head." Kelyna hadn't meant to change the subject, yet she kept feeling her mind sliding back towards the unhatched eggs, wondering and thinking; speculating.

C'lyn smiled. "You're as broody as your dragon, but I'm told a lot of weyrwomen have ended up feeling that way. They will hatch, they will Impress, and they will be the healthy young dragons we so badly need.

"Oh I so hope that that is true. I hope that none of them are duds!" Kelyna said, staring anxiously at the eggs; like she could make them hatch. Malaracyth growled her agreement. Malaracyth's feelings weighed heavily on Kelyna's thoughts. Everything to swirl around those precious couple of eggs.

"They'll be fine. Let's hope for a strong bronze or two...and lots of good greens. Can never have too many." C'lyn regarded the eggs again. "I'm starting to run out of things to say," the weyrleader admitted.

Kelyna laughed and asked, "Do you want to go grab some food. I've heard that the candidates are cooking though, the food might be less than best."

C'lyn hrmed. "Depends. Tirlynna can cook...not to bakecraft levels, but she's competent. But some of the others can burn water." He shuddered. "Then again, they need to learn.

"Well, I can promise you that Tirlynna isn't on cooking duty. I think she has chore group 1, while two does cooking. I really am not sure what they put together, but I believe F'mar is watching them. The food will hopefully be edible," Kelyna said, while making a face at the thought of inedible food. Eating bad tasting food for two was worse than eating bad tasting food for one.

C'lyn nodded. "Hopefully. And *everyone* should know how to cook. I don't buy the stupid idea that boys don't."
Sexism was something C'lyn had little patience with.

"I do hope so. F'mar should quickly get any ideas that boys can't cook out of their heads. Isn't that the purpose of there time as a candidate, to learn equality and the value of work?" Kelyna asked C'lyn. Most people that went to a community weyr these days were treated as candidates and never impressed, but the skills they did learn helped them greatly through the rest of life.

C'lyn nodded. "And teamwork. Don't forget teamwork. If thread comes back, we'll need to make fighting wings out of these kids.

"Yeah, it helps that they live in the candidate barracks and make friends with each other. It gives them a chance to know each other," Kelyna said while starting to walk towards the exit and dining hall.

C'lyn fell in next to her. Kilith flopped on the sands, a good distance from the clutch. He was not leaving his golden mate until he was actually needed elsewhere. "It helps...and clutchmates do bond well, usually."
He just hoped...hoped...that the strange eggs hatched healthy dragons. That Malaracyth was worried about nothing.
