(Proud is bronze) Proud waited and Karlyn listened to what the girl said through her firelizard, though Proud himself didn't actually understand what was said, but Karlyn could still hear through him.
Karlynlooked at thebrown rider and nodded. She pointed to Waterfall who was starring at the new green and then too her throat, her symbol for the firlizards spoke for her. Then, she sent Proud the image of her flits before she went back between times. Proud sent it on to Zamora. Karlyn also sent an image of the new girl moving forward, and Proud dutifully sent it on. He spoke the best for her because she had trained him ti send the pictures she sent him to other people.

"Really?" she asked the brown rider in excitement.
She turned to follow the motion of the bronze firelizard. The woman couldn't talk? Blinking in surprise, she realized, at the woman's motions, that she was using her firelizard to communicate. That was amazing! Why hadn't she heard...but then she was new. Nodding, smiling brightly and feeling excited at the possibility that she might actually have an opportunity to Impress, she stepped forward, up to where the hatching was actually taking place, near the eggs and where the other's hoping to Impress waited as well. Some already had and were carrying their little ones away. She held her wrist with one hand, hope shining her eyes.
Just the sight moments before of a woman who couldn't speak being able to communicate through her fire lizard made her more admirable of the creatures. To be bonded to a being who could help her and be so close to her it could help convey meaning...that was amazing. But other than that, Syn loved affection, and that was what drew her most to the bond between flitter and human, dragon and rider. The love between them, and the thought of being loved and loving in return the most magnificent beings in Pern, a bond that could only be broken through death...a lifetime partnership and understanding...
She watched the Hatchings and hoped..

And'l noticed as he wacthed the white firelizard as it started to head in his direction. He wanted to make sure that he was the one that it wanted, before he made a move so he waited and that was when the little creature collasped and and called to him softly. His heart melted as the young man reach forward and scooped the little guy up into his arms holding the little white firelizard close as he began to feed him. It was diffently a cute one, "Pearl... I think that I want your name to be Pearl." He was as white as a Pearl after all. The little creature seemed so tried after eating and with a soft yawn it just curled up in his pet's arms and went right to sleep. Leaf crooned softly to the new member of the family and And'l just smiled happily. (Sorry it is such an epic fail )

The blue firelizard seemed to be having some difficulty making a decision, even looking at Aphrodie, then Karlyn, then...no. He was examining everyone before deciding.
The pink, however, moved quite a lot faster. Giving his brother an arch look, he tried his wings...failed, and nosedived right into Synchella's left boot. Oof. Picking himself up, he tried to find some dignity, but only succeeded in looking up at the girl in a distinctly pathetic manner.
Umm.
Hi?

She recognized And'l right before the small white fire lizard decided he was going to be it's human. She bit her lip, watching Leaf, And'l's green watching with interest. They seemed drawn to certain people, with some folk Impressing more than others, other Impressing none.
Synchella froze at the sight of the pink coming...coming for her? Her heart beat picked up, and she felt like she couldn't move at all. Then the poor little darling ran so fast he...he ran right into her foot. Quickly, she darted down, feeling as if her movements were being made through water. She should have caught him before he'd done that...her hands gently picked him up and she shook her herself in wonder as her eyes met the whirling colors of the pink flitters orbs.
He was hungry! Startled, she almost jumped over to the meat to begin gently feeding her darling new friend. Carefully holding him, she examined his wing and small body for injury. Relieved to find the straightforward creatures body intact, she felt...she'd never loved anything so much. Charmed by his small size and pink color, she was sure nothing had ever been more adorable or wonderful.
"I think you're name is Shimmer my little one," she softly told the Pink, gently scratching his head.
He crooned leaning into her hand momentarily before cheeping for food again. She handed the little one small pieces, her world absorbed by the hatchling. They said impressing the flitters was like Impressing dragons only less so. Less so? She wondered at that.
He was soon full and curled up on her arm, decidedly happy and tired. He'd eaten so much! How could his stomach fit so much food? Well, she noted it was distended enough considering all he'd consumed.
It was only then she looked up at the others in the room, smiling brightly as she did so.

F'red had rushed into the candidate barracks and near enough dragged Narine to get her to follow him. She tried asking what he wanted her to see, but he was striding too fast for her to really get a chance. Yet once they entered, her eyes went wide and lit with excitement. Firelizard eggs were hatching!
'Why didn't you say?' Narine asked him using their special sign language but F'red just smiled and pushed her forward. Straight into the back of another girl who seemed to be using signs and her firelizards as a way of communicating. Narine glanced back at F'red, but he had moved to stand near Idara. Narine lightly touched the girls shoulder, just enough to get her attention, nothing more. Then she did a tactile wave against the girl's(Karlyn's) arm as an added way of gaining attention, but also to say hello.
"Hello Idara. How are you faring today?" F'red asked the young woman he chose to interact with while Narine made friends and maybe even got a firelizard. He wouldn't mind if he got one, but he did have alot of work with Menudoth while she was still rather young. He knew both he and his dragon needed alot of training and was willing to put in the work. It was nice to relax now and then though.
Teal'cth hadn't told T'noi about the eggs hatching, so the brownrider had a somewhat curiously bemused expression as he entered. Why couldn't his dragon be more talkative, or at least informative? With a barely visible shrug, he made his way closer yet without moving towards any particular person. Some of the ones already hatched did look rather cute, yet he still wasn't sure whether he really wanted one.

Uu’ian vaguely noted his weyrmate getting up and picking up a hatchling from the ground (one would have thought they’d wait the few seconds it took for their wings to dry out, but noooo, the babies were impatient to find their bondeds and be fed), but he was far too absorbed with his own hatchling to notice very much. Fury had apparently finally had enough to eat, which was just as well because Uu’ian had nothing left to feed the firelizard with, and had curled up with a sift sigh in the bronzerider’s lap, allowing Uu’ian to run gentle fingers over his hide.
----
Zamora felt sure there was something significant in the firelizard projected image she received, an image of many firelizards in a dazzling array of hues in an area that looked somewhat familiar to her, but she couldn’t fathom what it was or what it meant, so she simply remained silent feeling as if something had passed over her head there. She was bound to realise what she’d missed in a short while, and no doubt she’d feel foolish for missing it.
Turning back to where Synchella had been before to tell the girl of course Aphrodie was willing to let the hatchlings go (a full clutch would be a bit much for anyone person to handle, especially with a dragon and two grown firelizards as well), Zamora found the girl had already moved forward. Apparently the pink firelizard still sat in his eggshell had been waiting for the girl to move up, because he shot into the air, and fell, to be picked up and fed by his chosen. When Synchella had a moment to look around the room again Zamora flashed a grin at the girl in silent congratulations.
----
It seemed to Z’mit that the young firelizards were plagued by disaster, they all seemed to want to try out their wings right away, and it clearly wasn’t working for any of them. The pink hatchling, however, did make a graceful arc before falling right on the boot of one of the girls his sister had been talking to, at least those girls had their heads on right in Z’mir’s opinion, both of them having Impressed firelizards now, and weren’t only interested in talking to humans.
A look back at the eggs told him it would soon all be over, most of the eggs were now hatchlings in various stages of eating and sleeping.
----
Idara recognised the young man talking to her as one of the weyrlings from Malaracyth’s last clutch, and realised with a start that those dragons must be close to grown now. It seemed like only a few sevendays ago that they’d hatched, it probably felt like a lifetime ago for the weyrlings though, Idara knew she couldn’t imagine what life would be like without Tuinth.
‘Hello yourself F’red.’ Idara replied with a slight smile. ‘I’m doing fairly well. I hope you and Menudoth are as well.’

The little blue firelizard, definitely a blue not an aqua as he made his way across the area where he had hatched, seemed to be taking his time.
He sniffed the air every few steps, as if trying to work out which of the offerings of food was superior. Eventually, he made his slow way to T'noi.
Four eggs yet remained, one of which was as unmoving as the...wait.
The egg had not moved the entire hatching, so it would probably surprise everyone present when it exploded into shards with no rocking or other such preamble. The firelizard to make such a dramatic entrance appeared at first to be another blue.
No.
Ocean's hum rose as her daughter greeted the world, completely eclipsing the hatching of an unusually red and unusually small brown that some might realize was actually a burgundy.

At first T'noi hadn't noticed the little blue waiting to find a bonded, that is until it started moving. Then his gaze was riveted on it, as if something was already telling him that this little firelizard was his. He watched as it took sniffs every few steps, yet the direction it was headed in made it clear that it was certainly coming towards him.
"Well now, aren't you a handsome little one?" He murmured softly as he picked the little blue up and it crooned softly at him. Despite his thoughts before, as he looked down at the little fellow in his hands and felt the bond click into place, he felt grateful that one had chosen him.
"Cobalt, how does that catch you?" He asked the little blue softly, who thought it over a moment before chirping happily. T'noi smiled and began to feed Cobalt, who was careful to chew the meat before swallowing. Soon enough the little guy was as full as could be and sound asleep, snoring lightly. T'noi looked back up to see two more eggs had hatched, one was blue in colour but then there were three blue colours within the firelizards and it could be any one of them. There was also a reddy brown that was unusually small for brown, he knew there was a colour called burgundy within the firelizards but he'd never actually sought to find out anything more about them. Could it be one of those?

Karlyn realized that the woman understand the flits like her aunt and uncle could. Dasly she shook her head because it was hard for her to communicate to someone who didn't understand. She could probably make signs all day long and still this woman wouldn't understnad her point.
She called Proud back to her and he dutifully flew back to her to continue humming and watching the hatching from his perch on her with the other firelizards.
She watched as the other new girl impressed a flit, and other people impressed flits. She gently stroked her own sleeping baby green flit. She loved the silly little creatures.

See Idara, my love? You should have let me call everyone to the little ones’ hatching. The little blue’s mindmate only now arrives. If anyone had ever said it was beneath the dignity of a queen to say I told you so they had evidently forgotten to let Tuinth know about that, the feeling that the young gold projected as she spoke to her rider was annoyingly smug.
That tone doesn’t become you Tuinth. The goldrider replied silently, keeping the frown she wanted to display off her face, not only was it not appropriate for the hatching but Idara still had F’red stood nearby and didn’t want the young man to think she was frowning at him. They don’t need to bond and wouldn’t it be better for a little one to live with his wild kin than bond to someone who only came here because you called them? Idara pointed out, although she didn’t think a firelizard would really choose someone who wouldn’t care for it at least a little. That might even be what was behind people like the whiterider Impressing multiple firelizards, although Bamre was certainly an extreme example, Idara had never seen one of his pets looking less than content and healthy.
Idara felt Tuinth’s sigh through their bond. I suppose you may be right. But I like the little ones. I would like to keep them all here if we can. the gold dragon replied.
----
Now that, Z’mir thought as another blue shape emerged from an egg, was most certainly an aqua. The way her egg had shattered showed her unusual webbed feet perfectly, and the grown aqua’s increasing hum indicated to Z’mir that greeting her aqua daughter was as important to her as a hatching gold would be. Now that was interesting, he hoped that someday he’d have the chance to see a aqua hatch from a gold clutch, then he might well be able to tell if they ranked equally with golds based on the queen’s reaction.
And what was that? A second hatchling had escaped its egg while the aqua made her rather dramatic entrance to the world, a smallish hatchling, red-brown in colour. A small brown or on of the colour they called burgundy around here? Z’mir wasn’t exactly sure what the difference really was so he wasn’t able to tell with any certainty.
----
Zamora shrugged slightly as she realised she’d lost both of the girls she’d been talking to, well not literally lost but Synchella was so occupied with her new pet that Zamora doubted the girl would have time for any human at the moment.
As for the other girl, well the silent girl seemed, to be totally honest, rather dissapointted that Zamora hadn’t understood whatever she was trying to communitcate through the bronze firelizard, and the brownrider took his return to the girl as a dismissial and moved away into the crowd with a hint of regret. If she was as firelizard mad as her brother she surely would have understood perfectly and clearly, and been able to have more to say. Not understanding the pictures a flying lizard sent you was clearly a large social handicap around here, Zamora thought with a trace of resentment.
I could tell you what the firelizards mean if it upsets you so much not to know. Binagoonganth’s voice offered quietly, as if he was afraid the suggestion would offend. She wanted the bronze one to show you all the firelizards that once looked to her long-not-long ago.
Despite her irriation over the lateness of Bina’s offer Zamora had to smile at the brown’s phrasing. Bina, that last part made no sense. How can it have been long ago, and not long ago?
It just was.

In quick succession, the very last two eggs both hatched, revealing a green and a blue.
Both of them were resting, recovering from that final effort to break free of their shells, even as the aqua prowled the edge of the clutch. She was a queen, she would take her time deciding. In fact, she seemed to be hesitating, peering first at Karlyn, then at Zamora, then at Aphrodie, who made shooing motions.
That convinced the queen that she was, yes, expected to decide. Before she could do so, however, the little burgundy rushed towards Karlyn, as if wanting to claim her before his sister could.

T'relm peered down at the flitts. They were such odd little creatures. It was hard to believe that dragons had grown up from those tiny flitts. In fact, he wasn't sure he did believe it. Surely it was just some story the Pernese had been telling themselves for generations now.
The next one to hatch was a brownish-red hatchling. A burgundy, if he wasn't mistaken. Then a more normal green and blue, and then a second blue...wait, no. That was an Aqua. The little hatchling looked around, apparently as picky as any dragon Queen. The Burgundy ran to the Weyrwoman's daughter, leaving three on the sands. Maybe he wasn't going to have to walk home with a flitt after all.

You may get you desire at that. Idara told her dragon as the last two eggs shattered, leaving a green, a blue, a burgundy, and a prowling aqua queen. Only four, and with a whole room full of people to choose from and plenty of food on offer there was no reason for them not to want to bond.
As if to prove Idara’s thoughts right the burgundy shot off, right for Karlyn, who looked to become the second coming of Bamre if she didn’t watch out, while the aqua seemed to be looking people over, and the just hatched pair were getting their breath back. Well this hatching would be over in probably less than two minutes by the look of things.
----
Well the hatching part was definitely over, Z’mir thought wryly as the last pair of hatchlings emerged. Blue and green, apparently there’d been enough of the new colours now. An even split between the original colours and the new ones in fact, Z’mir realised when he thought about it. Had Ocean’s mate been a bronze or one of the new colours? Or even a brown? It might be possible for an aqua and a brown to produce an aqua queen. As said aqua examined the people around her Z’mir mused on her origin and her possible descendents.
While he was musing he’d managed to totally miss the red-brown hatchling Impressing, a look around the room proved it had Impressed, to the girl with about a half dozen other firelizards. Maybe these newer colours preferred the company of other firelizards then. Who would the aqua pick then? Z’mir’s attention briefly flicked over the crowd before he realised that he barely knew most of these people, therefore a guessing game was no help to anyone.
----
It looked like that girl really did have some kind of weird affinity for firelizards, Zamora mused as she spotted another hatchling moving toward the girl. If what Bina had to say was true she’d once had many more firelizards looking to he as well. Now that she was at the Weyr she’d probably have a dragon as soon as one of their queens came up with a clutch, and if she was really lucky it’d have a short name.
Since a second round of socialisation would no doubt result in Zamora failing to understand something else significant she didn’t bother to pay further attention to the girl, rather she watched the other three firelizards from the clutch, green, blue, and… ah, those ones were being called aqua weren’t they? Three firelizards and more than three people waiting for their attention.

F'red was attempting to keep his eyes on the clutch at the same time as keeping some attention on Idara. After all, it wouldn't do to let anyone think you were ignoring them after you started the conversation.
"We are well, thank you. Menudoth certainly enjoys eying the males." He gave a small snort of laughter at that. Hopefully there were some female ridden blue that would chase, F'red wasn't one for the males after all. Oh no, he definately had his eye on the ladies.
