It was a Weyr.
A traditional, old fashioned Weyr, and while not exactly full of dragons, he'd seen a good number of them. Marakar had even glimpsed a black dragon...or maybe it had just been a very dark brown?
Right now, though, the young man had found the candidate barracks and dumped his bag down next to an empty cot.
He was going to Stand for the next Hatching...and, given his proclivities, probably Impress green. That was fine by him. He flopped down onto the cot himself, making sure it could take his not insubstantial weight.
Good. It was all good.

Andol walked into the candidate barracks with Leaf in his arms and his brother blue flit Sapphire sitting on his shoulders with his tail around his neck. Then instant he walked in and saw the new candidate he immedately became very neverous and the fact that he thought that he looked cute did not help etheir. A blush came to his face. He unlike his brother was not able to tell someone if thought they were pretty. He just walked over quitly and just sat on the bed and looked at the other. The blush was extermely noticable. He then looked and the other and siad neverously " He-ll-o my n-am-e is A-nd-ol wh-at i-s yo-urs?"

"Marakar," he said in his deep voice.
For right now, he said nothing more, but rather regarding the not unattractive young man before him. With a rather cute green firelizard just to add to things.
That alone made him worth cultivating, in the hope of bribing an egg out of him someday. Unfortunately, Marakar was not one to strongly initiate conversation...

Andol looked at the other and he still kept that blush on his face. He said " My green firelizard here is named Leaf." Leaf chriped her greeting to Marakar. He then tried to think of somthing to talk about and he then asked " S-o Ho-w lo-ng ha-ve yo-u be-en here?" He just sat there after saying this and he cuddled Leaf and looked at the other candidate. He then brust out saying " Your cute." He then realized what he had said and he blushed a deeper red and he held Leaf up and buryed his face in the greens back.

Marakar started to say, "A few..."
Whether he intended to say hours, days, or what, though, his train of thought was utterly derailed by Andol's next comment.
He blushed scarlet. "Thanks...but I hear candidates should avoid entanglements."
On the other hand...the nice thing about a Weyr was it would attract people of his preference, even if they weren't riders...such things tending to be more tolerated.

Andol brought Leaf down alittle bit reveling his face which was just a scarlet as Marakar's. He then siad " I know that. I just had to say that. I am sorry if I suprised you." He looked at the other and secertly hoped to himself that maybe somthing could be kindled bettewen them in the future. He then said " Sorry I am just very shy." He said this as he covered his face with Leaf again. He felt very embressed.

Marakar shook his head. "You shouldn't hide a handsome face behind a firelizard. Even a pretty one."
The green was, he noted, on the large side. But pretty. And the boy? He definitely had some visible charms to him, although Marakar was reserving his judgment. There might be others of his preference here, and there was no sense not checking the field before making any decisions.
He could flirt a little, though. That would hurt nobody.

When Marakar siad he looked handsome Andol blushed even more. Even though that would be hard to beileve that he could blush even more. He then said slowly " You think I look handsome." Andol had kept to himself even more than Bamre had plus with Andols strange habits he never got many compliments. Especially on his looks. He then realized why he was so anxious and he revaled his eyes so he could see then he reached out and poked Marakar in the nose and then took Leaf off of his face and put her in his lap becuase he felt a bit better now. He then siad " Sorry I poked you in the nose. It's just if I don't do that when I meet someone then I get very anxious." His beat red face was now completely visable. He was still blushing a whole lot.

Marakar shook his head. "No weirder than the guy I used to know who had to deliberately wear odd socks when doing anything important."
He regarded Leaf, who seemed to be the quiet, affectionate type who didn't mind being manhandled, then his attention went back to her owner. "And I do. Of course, that's a subjective thing."

Andol got up and moved and sat down next to the other candidate almost absent mindedly. He was still blushing and he shyness began to take over again when he looked at Marakar and he buried his head in Leaf's back again. He just could not help it. He then sighed he did not know what to say expect " Thank you for understanding. Most people find me strange." This was more evadiaced by the fact he was crouching on the bed and not sitting on it. He then removed Leaf form in front of his face and just sat and looked at the other curiously.

Marakar shook his head. "There is nothing strange about being shy," he said in his deep, even voice.
Maybe trying to hide behind a firelizard was strange.
Maybe Andol would try to hide behind his dragon...who would probably be green. Marakar reckoned he would most likely Impress blue, but there were all kinds of strange mutant dragons and firelizards hatching...

Andol look at him curiously. He hadn't noticed. Andol sighed and said while cuddling up Leaf close to his chest " No it is not the shyness. It is more the touching of peoples noses. The fact I never wear shoes. The way sit and it goes on to add up to me not being a normal person. I think if a dragon chooses me it will be blue becuase they are attracted to shy people." He then wisphered somthing to Leaf and she dissapered. He sat there for a few seconds and then reappered and droped some sweets into his hand. He then sighed and said " Excuse me." He then hoped down on the floor and recrouched down and then stacked the sweets in a little tower. He ate the one off the top and looked back up Marakar and said " Sorry about that I was getting hungry." He looked up at Marakar hoping the other did not think he was strange for what he just did.

Marakar nodded. "Maybe. I wouldn't mind a blue myself. Or a green."
He knew he would not Impress bronze, and brown was unlikely, his preferences were too set for that. For that matter, a green would be perfect. Even the smallest green would not find his size a problem, and if he was a greenrider...
...well, he wouldn't have to -tell- people his preferences.

Andol lisitined as he took anthoer of the sweets and then ate it. He then siad " Well though in the end it does not matter to me which color I impress. Just as long as I impress somthing." He then sighed and looked at the ground and said with a dishearted tone to his voice " Though I don't think that I will impress anything at all really."

Marakar shook his head. "I bet you Impress a nice little blue."
Or one of the new colors. "What new colors are there, or don't you know either? I could have sworn I saw a black dragon when I was crossing the bowl, but it could have been a very dark brown."
But he'd heard rumors. Weird, mutant dragons...but the rumors hadn't suggested they were anything but healthy, so...
