Bamre repiled to her " Well if this the only place were people have treated you so well then it does not matter. Becuase you live here now and the people who thought of you as strange dont. So therefore you should not worry about it so much and remember you are among friends."

"I will try," Levra said, touching the last egg, bowing and taking her leave of Malaracyth. She didn't want to get in trouble with the great big gold dragon. Moving out she ended the conversation until a later time and made way for other candidates who still needed to touch or were touching.

The lean, rusty haired youth lingered at the back of the group of candidates, hanging on F'mar's thin instructions. At least, Andicher thought, if there's not so much for me to remember, there's not so much to mess up with... He shuffled forward with the others, catching snippets of their hushed conversations, but not really lingering on any. The young man shifted his feet uncomfortably, feeling the heat of the sands through his ill suited sandals. He mentally resolved to find someone who could help him aquire some good, sturdy boots.
All too soon, the line seemed to have dissipated, and he found himself standing alone before the huge queen and Kelyna. He bowed stiffly, breath catching in his throat and eyes locked on Malaracynth. His hair drew forward, collecting at a point directly below his forehead. Slowly, painfully slowly, he stood again and bowed to the Weyrwoman. This time, not so formally, as he was sure that Kelyna wouldn't bite his head off. With what he assumed was approval, he approached the eggs.
Of course, the queen he avoided. What purpose would touching it have? Andicher didn't wander to the odd eggs, either. He would leave them to those they would impress, should they hatch. He had a gut instinct that they would. Logic and common opinion were against the small one, but still.
Instead, he let his hand fall above the egg nearest to him, a decent sized one with a pure ruby shell. Had he been asked to choose a favorite, this would be it. It was so plain, but so pure. Not unlike the gem-like ones on the other side of the clutch, a blue and white veined egg, and an odd motly of green, black, blue and red. Both had the glazed appearance of the one beside him, that he was about to touch. His had fluttered over the smooth shell, hesitant to actually touch something that looked so delicate, but he forced himself to go ahead. All the others are doing it, you fish brain! What could go wrong? So he let his fingers brush against the shell.
He never expected to feel something, even though F'mar had warned about it. Raw emotion pulsated from the egg, flooding over him. He couldn't even describe the feelings, they were so complicated. The only one he could distinguish was a want. Reluctantly, Andicher pulled away, awed at how something unborn could wish so for something. Impression.
He moved on through the ranks of eggs, experiencing something similar with the other stone-like eggs, and touching a green and brown splotched egg and a beautiful sunset like egg with navy.

Darket walked over to the new boy after he left Bamre and Levra's conversation. He reached down to touch the closet egg while saying, "Hi, what's your name? My name is Darket.

"Ah! Oh, I... I'm Andicher. Pleased to meet you, Darket!" He'd been so absorbed in the eggs that he'd nearly jumped out of his skin when the other boy spoke to him. He shuffled around a bit, temporarily relieving his scalding feet, then said for the sake of conversation, "I've always heard that the Sands are hot, but I didn't expect this!"

"Yah, that's why they tell you to wear protective sandals on the sands." Darket said with his happy go lucky smile and tone. Dome would call him to happy, but he was just twelve. It was amazing that he had gotten over his parents death and yet his sister held onto it with vengeance.

Andicher smiled; nodded. He stepped forward a bit, just over to the next egg, and slowly pulled his hand across its firm, oddly textured surface. "I wonder how the eggs can handle it, enjoy it, even... They can't even move to spread the heat around." He finished speaking, and closed his eyes, trying to decipher the feelings of the egg he stood by. He was having a hard time of it, though, only being able to pull out the wanting again. Everything else blended together.

"I think it has something to do with there shell. I believe that there shell spreads the heat, or so I have been told. I don't personally know," Darket answered cheerfully, it made since to him, why question the design of the eggs, it hadn't failed much before except when it produced duds.

Eldan had been behind the rest of the Candidate. He had not felt very comfortable with the mother looking on. But he had to touch the eggs, so he might as well get on with it. Standing around was only going to get his feet even hotter than they already were. Nervous steps brought him closer to the group of eggs regarded as strange. Some of the Candidates might not want them, but a dragon was a dragon, once you got past the hide color at any rate.
He bowed to the protective queen and slowly brushed his fingers over the black egg. That was unusual, wasn't it? The eggs were usually cream colored with markings, weren't they? But then again the rest of the eggs were oddly colored too. Eldan moved on to the other two odd eggs. Even the little one should be given a chance. His fingers lingered on the teal egg with the silver stripes; it was a nice egg, even if it was different. He wandered over to the brown or bronze sized eggs, making sure to touch each one. Lazily, Eldan let his fingers trail along the side of a blue-sized egg, not that he really wanted a blue, but it would be stupid to limit his chances.

Maylina knew that she wanted to touch the Queen egg, but she went to some of the smaller eggs first so that she wouldn't upset Malacyrth by only paying attention to one egg. Out of the normal eggs, she spent the most time with one of that was all different shades of greens. She felt certain that it would be a green like its shell, and she didn't wan to risk impressing a male by touching an egg that would hold a brown or blue.
She ventured closer to the Gold, but stopped when she saw a strange, big black egg. It was even bigger than the Gold, which almost never happened. She decided to touch out. She smiled and fluttered her lashes a little at the boy there before going to the other side of the egg and brushing her fingers over it. She thingyed her head curiously. "Whatever do you think is inside this one?" She asked the boy.

"I have no idea to tell you the truth, but whatever it is, it deserves a chance to live and Impress, all the eggs do in fact." He smiled at Maylina and moved his fingers to the silver-striped teal egg.
"I really like the odd ones though. I don't think it would be fair to dislike them for such a silly thing as the color of the shell. As long as they hatch and Impress, who really cares what the egg looked like? Which is your favorite besides the gold? A lot of girls only focus on the queen and boys on eggs they think will have bronzes. The more fools they, I think, why limit your options if you don't have to?"
