Levra looked at the other girl very seriously and said, "and sometimes life drops that person and the outside world ain't as pretty as it seemed. Sometimes the outside world decides to through tricks your way, and dragons are just a relief from the horrors of the world."
Darket suddenly sobered up and nodded his head quietly. Levra's saying that brought back memories of his dead parents. It brought back memories of horrible keening. Oh, why did Levra always have to be so dark?

Tirlynna considers. "Dragons are special, but I *can* understand not wanting one. They might interfere with a person's plans for themselves."
Her plans, such as they were, very definitely included a green dragon...

"They might interfere, but they might also be good. It might be that that person wasn't meant for the life they planned on caring out. I actually have never heard of a person who didn't care for their dragon," Levra said. She didn't think that dragons could ever ruin a person's life.

Tirlynna grinned. "Oh, no, nobody resents their dragon, but C'lyn knows a couple of guys who what if stuff, not being sure...whether they wouldn't have preferred a different life."

"At least with a dragon you have protection," Levra replied. She had no wish for another life. Her life had died the day she met the outside world. She did not care for a different life.

Tirlynna nodded. "And one, true, absolutely loyal friend. At least, that's how C'lyn describes Kilith."

Levra replied, "A friend, a companion, a bonded so close to you that you that if they die, you are mortally wounded in the heart. A bonded so close to you that if you die, they die. It is a scary, yet satisfying thought, to know that there might be one that is that close to you." Levra pulled her hair back with her hands. It kept seeming to want to get in her face.

Tirlynna nodded. "Yes, and they choose, so we have to trust them...to know what they want and what they need."

"I guess trust might be a big part of things. But I guess the benefits outweigh the not so good parts," Levra said, like she was talking about an inanimate object.

Tirlynna grinned. "In any case...I wonder who will Impress that gold."

"I think that that Kafrata will get the gold. She strikes me as an uptight person that would do well with a gold. She is always organized. What do you think?" Darket just jumped back in, as cheerful as ever, not even giving Levra a chance to speak.

Tirlynna hrmed. "She wouldn't be a bad choice," the girl said, quietly. "'Course, what a gold picks is gonna depend on the individual gold."
They chose strong women, though. Ones who could...stick up to their brothers instead of all but avoiding them.

Levra agreed with the other girl's statement. She replied, "I must say, that Kafrata girl has quite a strong personality. She definitely isn't insicure about anything." Levra wouldn't say it, but she thought that she might give that Kafrata girl a run for her marks on that gold.

Tirlynna nodded. "I don't want her. Which may or may not mean she picks me. I don't know if they sense that or take it into account. You probably think I'm a little strange."

"No, everybody is different. Some think I am strange," Levra said while she was fiddling with her red hair. Not once did she smile, but she gave the other girl the stare that unsettled so many other people. Levra was testing the girl to see if she could hold up under such a *different* person.
